CM: Pioli’s plan for Dinamo Zagreb and Napoli as a 3-5-2 is increasingly probable

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is pondering how best to deal with the absence of Rafael Leao in view of the two crucial upcoming commitments.

Calciomercato.com report how Milan who will be forced to do without Leao in next Sunday’s big match at San Siro against Napoli as he was sent off for receiving two yellow cards against Sampdoria, and with Ante Rebic unlikely to be available it provides Pioli with a headache.

Milan will play on Wednesday night in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb and then will face Spalletti’s Napoli one week from today. Against the Croatians, Pioli will have to ask Giroud to work overtime as the centre-forward, with Saelemaekers, Leao and Brahim Diaz completing the attack.

The Rossoneri coach hopes to recover Origi for the match against Napoli so as to be able to deploy him in an increasingly probable 3-5-2 with Theo Hernandez higher in place of the suspended Leao and Dest in the opposite lane. Kjaer, Tomori and Kalulu would be fielded as a three-man defence from minute one for the first time.
