GdS: Two huge games within five days – Pioli’s plan to rotate vs. Dinamo and Napoli

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will have two huge games in a five-day stretch this week and Stefano Pioli will have to manage the squad in a near-perfect way, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how Milan will first face Dinamo Zagreb at San Siro in the Champions League on Wednesday in a game that is massive in the hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages, and then Napoli make the trip north on Sunday as the two early pace setters clash.

Stefano Pioli is considering alternating some players in these two games in order to keep everyone fresh. Mike Maignan is of course immovable Maignan, and Theo Hernandez will work overtime and will play both games, as will Fikayo Tomori who in the Champions League will team up in the centre of defence with Pierre Kalulu.

Against Napoli Simon Kjaer should play alongside Tomori to ensure there is plenty of energy in the rearguard, and there should be a relay also on the right side of the back four. Against Dinamo, Sergino Dest should make his debut as a starter in Milan, while against Spalletti’s side it should be captain Davide Calabria.

In the middle of the field, absolute confidence in both matches for Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer. Olivier Giroud will also start both games, while in the Champions League Rafael Leao will start but he is banned against Napoli after receiving a red card against Sampdoria.

Divock Origi could therefore find space on the left against the Neapolitans. In the other two roles of the trident, Brahim Diaz should start against Dinamo and Charles De Ketelaere will tae the spot versus Napoli. Alexis Saelemaekers should play in midweek, and Junior Messias next weekend.
