GdS: Pioli looking for the right signs from several players in final winter friendly

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is looking for signs from some of his players in today’s friendly against PSV Eindhoven, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that either Antonio Mirante or Ciprian Tatarusanu will start as the goalkeeper given Mike Maignan is still out due to his calf problem. The Frenchman has not played since 18 September, so Pioli will look for one of the deputies to step up, while the shadow of Marco Sportiello looms.

There are two things of note in the defence: Davide Calabria will return from the 1st minute having recovered from the injury sustained against Empoli at the beginning of October, and Sergino Dest is expected to shift to the left side given Theo Hernandez’s absence, with Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori the centre-backs.

In midfield the trusted double pivot of Tonali-Bennacer will be reunited, while in attack there will be a spot for Alexis Saelemaekers on the right and possibly Yacine Adli on the left, with Rafael Leao on the bench and Charles De Ketelaere the playmaker.

The Belgian only played 15 minutes in Qatar and must now build on his one assist in 18 games since arriving from Club Brugge over the summer. Up front, while awaiting Giroud’s return, Rebic should lead the line as he has often been used by Pioli.
