CM: Pioli has three selection doubts to resolve before Atletico Madrid game – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli has three selections doubts that he must resolve before tonight’s game against Atletico Madrid, a report has claimed.

Calciomercato.com writes that Pioli is dissolving the last doubts he has about the line-up that will take the field in what is a must-win game for the Rossoneri if they are to keep alive their very slim hopes of reaching the knockout stages.

The first doubt is the right-back position where Pierre Kalulu is in pole position to start against the LaLiga champions. His recent performances have meant that Alessandro Florenzi – who has just recovered from a knee injury – has been forced to start behind the Frenchman in the hierarchies.

Then there is the double pivot, where Sandro Tonali almost certain of a start and it just remains to be seen whether it will be alongside Franc Kessie or Ismael Bennacer, with the Ivorian ahead of the Algerian at present due to his physicality.

Finally, there is the left wing spot. Rafael Leao is now a doubt as he is not at his best physical condition and did part of training alone yesterday, but the Portuguese winger is more likely to start than unlikely. If he continues to struggle, Pioli’s idea is to move Brahim Diaz to the wing and have Rade Krunic in the role of attacking midfielder behind Giroud.
