Pioli: “We are not satisfied, we must resume in the same way and continue our growth” – video

Stefano Pioli praised his Milan side for their spirit and their heart as they beat Lazio 3-2 to ensure that they will keep top spot heading into 2021.

Milan surrendered an early two-goal lead at San Siro on Wednesday night, but they scored an injury time winner through Theo Hernandez to take all three points and reclaim top spot from Inter, who occupied it for just a couple of hours.

Pioli spoke to Milan TV after the game and spoke highly of his side’s ability to battle for three points.

“We suffered, I was expecting a difficult match against a strong team who are doing well. We are going to suffer, but we have a huge heart,” he said.

“The fans accompanied us to the stadium before the game, we feel their passion. We haven’t done anything yet, but we are very happy to give certain joys to our fans.

“My players can’t wait to see the fans at the stadium again. Imagine what San Siro would be like right now. Maybe at the beginning some players had an advantage because they felt less pressure, but now with the fans we would have an extra boost.

“Our fans are exceptional, they give us a lot and we try to do the same. We hope to see the fans in the stadium again soon.

“We hung the 2020 standings at Milanello, on paper it is worth nothing, but for us it means a lot, it means having taken the right path. We are not satisfied, we must resume in the same way and continue our growth.

“I am very happy with the squad, we have to thank the club. We are at the beginning of our journey that started from the 5-0 loss in Bergamo. We have important foundations and we must continue like this.”
