Player Ratings: AC Milan 2-1 Como – Reijnders decisive; Musah horrendous

AC Milan once again turned a deficit into a win as they prevailed 2-1 against Como underneath the San Siro floodlights. Below are the player ratings for the Rossoneri.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.

Starting XI

Maignan (6): He couldn’t do much about the goal as it was a great finish by Da Cunha; low and powerful. The Frenchman made two very good stops in the first half aside from that and had some good passes too.

Walker (5.5): It was okay at times, but he was rather slow in defence and not quite on his A-game, whatever that is. Como noticed this early and took advantage, with Diao creating a lot on the right flank. The Englishman also had some poor passes in attack.

Gabbia (5): The Italian struggled quite a bit with Diao in the first half especially and he was also way too rash in most of the duels, resulting in free-kicks for Como. Cutrone also managed to create space on a couple of occasions, the No.46 had to do better.

Thiaw (6): Compared to his colleague, it was a better evening with multiple aerial duels won and some good passing in the build-up. Sure, he was beaten a few times in defence but also recovered some dangerous situations.

Hernandez (6): Although we got to see another dive (he did get up immediately, though), I don’t agree with the decision to take him off. He was heavily involved in the chance that Musah should’ve scored and he also had some good defensive interventions. It just felt like a very strange sub.

Bondo (6): He played well all things considered, and only got carded because of a mistake in attack by Musah (tactical foul). While he lost the ball a couple of times, he moved over large areas and often made himself available, showcasing some abilities on the ball as well.

Musah (3.5): It’s frankly astonishing that he keeps missing so many good chances in the final third. The big miss today was arguably the worst yet, with an open goal to aim at from close range. When you play for Milan, consistently missing good chances cannot be tolerated. He was kept on for the second half due to Bondo’s yellow card but then got himself carded too after just three minutes.

Pulisic (7.5): What a finish to get Milan back into the game. He wasn’t brilliant before that but as we have seen so many times before, he can change the game on his own and when that happens, his performances also reach another level. Indeed, after the goal, he combined really well with his teammates.

Reijnders (8 – MOTM): He had some very good passes in attack in the first half, especially to Hernandez and Leao, and followed that up in the second with a great assist for Pulisic. He was nearly returned the favour (Pulisic with the pass) as he hit the bar 15 minutes later.

He did eventually get the goal, though, showing great composure after a fantastic pass by Abraham. A brace also wasn’t far away but his finish went just wide after another good pass by Abraham. He once again showed why he should play as a No.10 and not in the tandem.

Leao (6): He had some good runs down the left-hand side this evening and the crossing actually wasn’t horrible, it’s just that few Milan players made their way into the box on those occasions.

Gimenez (5): Unfortunately, it was another game with very little input from him – aside from the great attack that led to Musah’s chance – and Abraham’s entrance certainly showed what Milan were missing. He can and must do better, even if Conceicao’s perhaps needs to tweak some things as well to make everything work.

Substitutes

Fofana (5.5): We saw a couple of nice passes forward, but he committed too many fouls and that didn’t exactly help Milan in their pursuit of a winner. He has lost his ability to smoothly win balls back.

Jimenez (6.5): While the Theo sub was a bit strange, it must be said that the Spaniard did well and actually made a difference in attack, using his pace to open up space for his teammates and subsequently create chances.

Joao Felix (5.5): Conceicao clearly wanted an attacking effect and he didn’t quite get it with this sub, although there were a couple of promising passes (one for Gimenez over the top).

Abraham (7): Absolutely fantastic assist for Reijnders’ strike, showcasing great vision to pick out the Dutchman on the turn. He did it again a few minutes later, and it would’ve been a beautiful goal. Compared to Gimenez, it was like night and day. The Englishman should be really pleased with this one.

Loftus-Cheek (N/A): No rating for him today, but it was really nice to see him back on the pitch. He could be very important for the season finale.

  1. Bondo was really good. He made up for that horror show by Musah… I like Bondo and that card really wasn’t his fault.

Gabbia’s decline in form is concerning. There is too much not working right now.

The win is nice for morale, but we really need to step it up fast to salvage something from this horrible season.

    1. I don’t think it’s a decline in form I think it’s the fullbacks and midfield not helping. Walker gets beaten pretty easily, theo isn’t the best defensively, and the DM is pushed to far up sometimes and are left in a 3v2 or more sometimes. Think was struggling a bit too they just weren’t attacking down the left as much.

      1. Yeah, I’ve been saying that Walker has gotten just too old and slow and that’s why he was benched at Man City and then cast off.
Bad mistake for Milan to get him.
Teams have figured out that he’s yet another weak spot at that right fullback position

        1. Musah should’ve really put the first chance in the net. That shot is awful and typical of a player without confidence who just want to get over with it.
He then had another chance to be alone with the goalie but his touch was too poor.

Other than that he was good.
He wasn’t our worst player in the play.

He needs to be cooler and score a few to gain some confidence.

        2. When was he benched and cast away? 😀 You made it up hahahahaha. Omg, what a clown. I might agree he is too old to be signed by Milan but what you wrote is a fantasy.

    2. Bondo is poor defensively. He is slow and doesn’t have strength. I don’t understand why we bought him. Someone said, he could be the next Kessie, it’s wrong. Our defense is much better when Fofana came in.

      1. gini lho gus, itu Bondo jadi katro gara-gara pairing sama si Musah. Harusnya si Bondo nekat pairing sama Fofana. baru jadi bagus itu dia. Fofana lebih defense, Bondo lebih sedikit nyerang bantu Tij.

      2. Fofana double pivot with bondo. Sounds good. So reijnders can have more attacking minded. He play like de jong, van der vaart or even like cruijff. I think if Sergio stay at Milan,he won’t use musah/ sell theo. Too many drama and defensive error. Not in Sergio style…

    3. Yeah i don’t think Gabbia is showing a decline it’s just that he hasn’t really been getting consistent game time under Conceicao, not to mention he has been getting some physical problems as well recently.

  2. As I commented on another article, Musah was pretty good in this game. He missed a big chance, but he also created it. He needs to improve in the final third, but that’s not his main job.

Frankly, the ratings on this site are usually oriented toward goals and misses instead of performances. We should analyse with a clear head, not emotion.

    1. What did Musah bring to this game? Production? No. Passing? No, because he misplaced passes too. His overall impact is more negative than good.

And I was often a defender of Musah in the past… but it’s getting to the point where he’s costing us games.

      1. He is able to progress the ball from the defense to attack on the dribble, which covers over a lot of the deficiencies of the backline. He also covers a lot of ground that Tijani doesn’t.

It definitely wasn’t a classic performance, but he wasn’t worse than anyone else on the team. The 3.5 rating seemed like an overreaction to one moment rather than an honest assessment of his performance. I’d give him a 5.5 for this match.

        1. His passes are broken, his pass completion rate is atrocious. His intelligence on the field is non-existent. It’s not just him missing chances, which is also embarrassing. But his overall impact on the game and team. He’s a detriment to this team. He was the worst player of the team again. Over and over.

He shouldn’t start. Maybe he can be a substitute, but a starter… bonkers.

          1. Per FB ref, Musah is in the 61st percentile among midfielders for pass completion rate. Not great, but not as bad as you make it seem.

But he’s in the 99th percentile in progressive carries. That’s why he’s in the team offensively. Is it sexy to dribble the ball from the backline to Reijnders and Pulisic? no. Is it essential for the team’s functioning? Yes.

Yes, it’s frustrating that Musah looks like a deer in the headlights in attacking situations, but the extreme criticism of him seems emotional and unanalytic.

Bottom line, Musah is a 22-year-old with one elite offensive skill and decent defensive range. If he can improve his passing and finishing (lord knows he can improve a lot), he’ll be an amazing player. But even if he doesn’t, his progressive dribbling make him a useful player.

          2. This game was a poor performance inspite of the win. I will say this again, Milan is losing the midfield battle way to easily, May that battle be in transition play from the opponent or arial balls and winning the second ball.

The midfield is poor in stopping these issues, the culprit are partly due to the players and the tactics.
The players are not adequate enough to be ball winning midfielders and the tactical set up when the team is attacking leave the midfield wide open on the flanks or in the midway line, this is consistently the problem.

I would like to commend RLC, he carried the ball and he was winning the ball back by using his size and speed a huge improvement in what Milan has currently.

          3. Any player who plays in more than one position Cannot be accused of lacking football IQ.

3 coaches have utilised Musah in multiple positions. Showing 3 professional mangers belive he has more IQ than the rest of the squad….. those who accuse Musah, Tamori & Leao of lacking IQ, need to look at JD

          4. His pass completion rate is awful. And it’s not just stats. Musah is literally detrimental to our entire play. He’s not elite. He’s a mediocre player at best. He’ll be nothing more than a good bench player… at best.

          5. He wants to be like kessie. But he knows he can’t . But I saw Bondo. He’s dribble skills and hold the ball like kessie. He can improve. Musah already 2 years at Milan. But no progress. Milan should send him loan…

        2. You sound like a videogame player, focusing on stats. In real life, Musah does carry the ball forward but then doesn’t know what to do with it with atrocious finishing and misguided actions in the final third. This happens over and over. Not to forget, he collects silly yellows (and even damaging reds like in the Champions League) and causes companions to collect yellows like today. He doesn’t seem to be able to score even when he is given the most incredible sitters.

Just carrying the ball forward doesn’t cut it when you have so many other deficiencies.

Overall Musah is detrimental to the team.

          1. No, Musah’s ball carries have helped Milan, against juve, he was pivotal to the win in Saudi. In other games he does fair. He has great potential. How many of Milan players can play RWF, DM and WB in the same game. The coaching is probably the issue. Concencaio needs to to improve is judgement and technicality

          2. Musah has some moments and has good work rate, but as many have already said, he struggles with decision making in the final 3rd. Either he makes the wrong choice or, more commonly, can’t decide and then loses the ball as he dribbles into defenders. And he’s lost his head a few times, which has cost the team. The good news is he’s young and seems to have a good personality so hopefully he can continue to learn and grow. But being 99th percentile in one thing while being poor in so many others cannot earn you the right to start on a Serie A club that *theoretically should be* in the Top 4.

          3. Musah always dribble and dribble but he doesn’t now how to pass it. Too many defensive errors and silly red card. i think conceicao should try musah on RB. Calabria replacement.

        3. Oh great , his claim to fame is that dribbles fast and has pace when 80% the ball would of gone the same distance and faster if he looked up and passed it.

      2. Bro! Haven’t seen you here for a minute. How’s your boys João Felix and Santiago Gimenez? How’s the boot licking? The management spent a lot and get sh!t for it.

        1. Relax bro. musah already 2 years at Milan. No progress. Felix & gimenez only 2 months. you can’t compared it. Hehe

          1. I didn’t mention Musah you do. João has been a professional for years and has played like this everywhere, no need for more time. Santi can’t even out perform a Roma reject and he’ll convince redturd we should buy him. You sound like a turdlicker as well even more than Zaltan.

      3. Obviously you didn’t watch the game. To make that statement and the rating he got is cray work. His missed a chance but his overall play was good.

    2. RE: Musah’s yellow “got himself carded” sounds like it was a foolish card — it was a smart tactical foul.

For me, Abraham was MOTM, and Santi was totally anonymous. 20 mil for Musah > 35 for Santi

      1. Dude, Musah is just not a smart player. There was nothing smart about his play and there hasn’t been in a long time. He’s a headless chicken.

    3. i agree, Musah is good. just dont think it got to do with the final 3rd, but rather some general mental or decision making issue. cause he’s having these blackouts also in defensive actions. really hope age/experience will fix this, then he is worldclass.

      1. I used to think like you because he is still young. But it is becoming clearer and clearer that he doesn’t really learn and is not evolving; he keeps making the same mistakes and his football intelligence is pretty much non-existing. At this point I’m completely losing faith in him and now I do believe that he hurts the team more than he helps it.

        1. ok, yes maybe in the current situation we cannot afford to use him that much, he should come more from the bench. i think thats anyway what will happen now that RLC is back.

but i’m not losing faith yet.

        2. People said the same about Frank at first, even if he wasn’t as poor. But he gives 100 everytime no matter the performance.

          1. Kessie had 10 goal contributions in his 1st season. Musah is getting red cards for pulling injured opposition players around. You can give a 100% but if it is shit it is shit.

          2. Kessie had 10 goal contributions in his 1st season. Musah is getting red cards for pulling injured opposition players around. You can give a 100% but if it is sh*t it is sh*t.

    4. I agree. He was good other than his miscues in the final third. He needs more experience and to build some confidence. He certainly wasn’t horrendous. It’s just that he’s missing that way time after time. The rater is piling those past problems into the present performance. If Reijnders, for example, had the game Musah had it’d be chalked as a game with some bad misses and no makes and maybe rated at 5.5.

Despite his continued miscues I think he’s making progress. For a while I wasn’t sure if he’s capable, but I’ve become convinced it’s mostly mental and experience and he has the ability to perform well enough in the final third.

    5. Boss are you sleeping during the game Como tired our midfield apart, Musa is useless in the middle, useless in front of goal so what is good about him, gatuso is will score that goal blindfolded

    6. Running into the right place does not win you marks if you then butcher the output.
Not sure where praise is coming from.
The only thing he did well was to be in the right place a couple of times.
Once he received the ball it was all flop.

    7. Agree that he’s got his place in the team, but he’s the latest in a long list of scapegoats. Yes, he missed a big chance but he really wasn’t that bad, he’s very useful for moving the ball out of defence up the field.

  3. Is there still any doubt that musah is the dumbest midfielder in team? I was talking about his stupitidity for months , forcing him in 1st line up is the only reason i want conceisao out!

    1. He IS the dumbest mid in this team. Low IQ player who can’t defense nor offense.

The only reason RedTurd bought him and forced any manager to put him in the starting lineup because they want to sell his shirts for american fans. Just look at lars up there saying Musah is “pretty good” lol.

  4. Reijnders has scored a big number of goals for a midfielder this season. He should play as an AM, not in a double pivot. He can get 20 goals a season in all competitions. A striker on his own.

    1. That’s why he can be so selfish. There are games that all that is needed for him to do us to give a tru ball to the man in front to score or lay a pass but he wants to shoot or run. If he does not improve in judgement too. He will be a mockery in 2years

      1. Yeah Reijnders is not a great 10. He is too selfish or maybe just can’t consider all options well enough without blocking some out. Milan should be creating more chances than they are but things are breaking down more than they should. When Reijnders is acting as the central playmaker, some of this is on him.

  5. Conceição is a genius. He lures the opposition into a false sense of security by playing like absolute garbage in the first half and then by STILL playing like garbage in the second half but a bit better. Teams get confused and tired and so far it worked against 2 powerhouses like Lecce and Como !
Honestly I don’t know if the best moment to sack him is right now or not. He will probably be sacked after the Napoli game or the derby, so might as well give Tassoti 2 weeks to prepare the team. But is it wise to throw Tassoti directly against Napoli and Inter ?
Maignan: somehow he always concede in the near post huh ?
Théo: For someone who apparently doesn’t want to leave this summer, he sure is showing his love and passion on the pitch.
Thiaw & Gabbia: Tonight both were horrendous, period.
Walker: He managed to contain Diao a bit, so I’ll give more of a pass than the others.
Jimenez: Not a great game, but somehow more offensive than the offensive fullback Théo, but also more defensive. If I were Conceição, I’ll start with Jimenez next game.
    Bondo: clearly not there yet.
Musah: I’m actually not surprised to see him miss. The kid has talent and potential, but for NFL or track field, not for football.
Fofana: The best defensive midfielder tonight, which isn’t saying much…
Reijnders: By far his best performance under Conceição, which is sad, but he did well in the second half with the goal and assist. Vintage Reijnders is back ?
Pulišić: I think he secretly wants Conceição to stay since he pretty much saved his a$$ for 2 games in a row now. His fighting spirit was something else tonight.
Leão: It was when he was subbed out that I noticed that he actually played. At this point he is only a superb sub, not a great starter.
Giménez: Tonight, he displayed the skill level of an elementary school kid.
Abraham: Our best playmaker ! Tonight he provided more than Giménez during the last month or so. If I were Conceição, I’ll start with him next game.
Félix: Did he even play actually ?

  6. its a bit unfair to say Fofana committed too many fouls, cause many of them were normal due.ls which you can but definitely dont have to whistle.

Hope RLC is not injured again after that foul. He and Tammy should start against Napoli, then a win is absolutely possible.

  7. Milan 2 best players Reijnders and Pulisic to the rescue again.
Milan was outplayed. Como was the better team. They play beautiful football. Nico Paz is a helluva talent but his shooting is awful.
Milan was embarrassing to watch in the last 10 minutes. Even with a man advantage they couldn’t get the ball and get out of their own half.
I’ve said many times that signing a striker this winter was a mistake because the strikers weren’t the problem but the lack of service was. Gimenez might be a good finisher in the box if he gets service but he is absolutely uninvolved in the build up. Under a different coach with a different football philosophy he might be useful next season, but Tammy and Jovic can help Milan much more in these last dozen of games than he can. Tammy was great of the bench. Shame Reijnders missed that great chance. Tammy and Jovic can play with the back to the goal and hold the play up, Gimenez can’t.
Worst player on the pitch was Kyle Walker. Forget that he got beat many times, forget not clearing the ball that led to Como’s goal, he actually tried to stop the ref from giving Dele Ali a red card. Da f¥ck was that?
The only thing that matters in the remaining games are 3 points. It doesn’t matter how they get them.
    On to Napoli.

    1. Totally agree on all the points about Gimenez traits vs Abraham/ Jovic.
Every recent match we look dangerous Abraham comes on and mostly ineffective with Gimenez.

  8. Gimenez has not impressed after all the hoopla around signing him. I like Tammy more- faster, better hold up play, better dribbler, and passes to the open player.

    1. Tammy is technically very skilled, but i think Gimenez can do some of it as well. seems like pressure is currently blocking him a bit. for the team and for him it could be good to start Tammy against Napoli.

  9. Maignan 6. Jumped a little late when they scored but in his defense, that was a great shot. A couple of important saves did give him a pass.

Walker 5.5. Some mistakes, one of them instrumental for Como’s goal, but he did improve in second half and was helpful in keeping the lead.

Gabbia 5. Not a good game for him. He hasn’t been the brilliant defender that he was not so long ago.

Thiaw 5.5. Also a bit shaky but better than Gabbia.

Theo 6. Did reasonably well and indeed did not deserve to be subbed out so soon.

Musah Zero. You can’t earn ANY point at all when you miss a sitter like that one. This missed sitter should be kept on tape for the benefit of football academies where instructors will tell the young players: “Look at this play. Musah had 20 places where he could have placed the ball and 19 out of 20 would be a score on an empty net or an assist for a score by either one of his two companions who were closing in. Well, he managed to send the ball to the one place out of 20 where it wasn’t a goal nor an assist. Do not ever do that, students!” Right after that Gimenez gave him a great pass and he couldn’t control the ball for a shot (not that his shot would have been any good anyway). What a disaster. 10 for effort, zero for skill.

Bondo 6.5. Did very well, had to sacrifice himself with a yellow due to another Musah mistake. Could have played longer but with the yellow, he was subbed out. I think he will be an important player for Milan.

Reijnders 8, MOTM, a goal, an assist, a crossbar hit, incisive and dangerous.

Pulisic 7.5, great goal, what a class act! Better in the second half than in the first half.

Rafa 5. I couldn’t see anything right that he did today. So irregular… recent goals and assists but today, nothing. It does seem like he plays better as a second half sub than as a starter.

Gimenez 5. Disappointing. Only one good play, the pass to Musah that should have resulted in a score.

    Subs

Jimenez 5.5. I take away 1 point from him for his sustained anger that resulted in a yellow, risking a red. Otherwise he did fairly well and even though Theo didn’t deserve to be subbed out, actually Jimenez did not disappoint.

Abraham 7.5. The offense improved a lot when he came in; gorgeous assist and other good plays. I’m starting to feel that Tammy is more effective than Gimenez.

RLC 6. Really not bad for a first game after long injury. Drew the fall that resulted in a red card for the opponents, in a great resilient action that saw him recover the ball with lots of resilience and start a promising run forward.

Felix 5. Didn’t add much. Send him back to Chelsea. This is a failed experiment. Only good game, his first one against Roma. After that, very ineffective.

Fofana 6. Did make the midfield more solid. Yes, committed fouls but these actually did stop promising Como counters.

Mister Conceição – 5.5. Getting Musah to start and taking away Theo was bizarre. Anyway, bringing in RLC, Abraham and Fofana did pay out so I guess he almost deserves a pass. Not quite because his team remains fragile and depending on individual brilliance for comebacks (Reijnders, Puli) and we shouldn’t be in these situations to start with.

    1. ‘depending on individual brilliance’ – you are funny. the opposite is the case, for more than 10 games we are suffering due to individual mistakes. you said it already: Musah should have scored. Yes the goals were really nice, but we had other chances too.

      1. I specifically mentioned the individual brilliance of Reijnders and Pulisic, and yes, they were brilliant and that’s what saved us.

    2. You can’t give a player a 0 for missing a chance. Not if you want to be fair. and also are you consistent with that? any big chance missed puts the player on a 0? Besides, I wouldn’t call it a sitter. He had to react to the sliding player after rounding the keeper. That means suddenly adjusting from what he expected to do. He chose a difficult option and missed it. It’s like yanking a penalty when you see the keeper is diving in the direction you are shooting. You go for the corner and get it wrong. He should have lifted the ball or passed it. But needing to adjust what he was anticipating makes the situation not a sitter. It was a big chance missed but there are worse. Plus he did a good job of creating the opportunity. Usually his brain shuts off and he goes nowhere. Recently he’s been keeping his composure more and doing things at least partly right before being let down with the end product or being kept out but the woodwork or a good save. Eventually he’ll break through.

      1. I don’t give a zero automatically to every player who misses a sitter. But this one was the mother of all sitters. Textbook missed sitter. Like I said, should be preserved on tape for instructors to teach young players what NOT to do. It was the worst sitter miss of the entire season, all 20 Serie A teams considered. When you miss a sitter like this one, that my elderly mother would have converted, yes, you deserve a zero.

      2. He gets a 0 for this season. What he does good is run around and that is it, he can’t defend properly, he can’t control the tempo of the game, he can’t make that final pass, he can’t score. What is the point of having Musah in the team? Midfielder should be able to do at least 2 out of these 4 things. He has 0.

  10. If getting yourself in good positions could count for something then Musah should be the MOTM, but with that horrendous finishing he deserves the wooden spoon. Absolutely mind-boggling how he fluffed those chances. He is a ticking time bomb with all these cards he keeps getting. Felix has long checked out, he stopped trying. Not sure what happened to Gabbia’s confidence either. The coach just does not move the dial for us, he is surely on his way out. Happy to take the 3 points but it can’t carry on like this.

  11. I keep saying that you should stop giving Musah a rating.. He plays against us, not for us..😂.. some say he is good in carrying the ball or rather progressive dribbles.. I wonder how he usually gets through to be honest.. because he always decides to go where there is a lot of traffic.. and you guess what, usually he just needs to do a one-two with his team mates and he is through.. but nooo, Mr misconfigured controller will always do the opposite…😁

  12. to all the Musah haters: if we sell him and he starts taking smarter decisions and then fully explodes. everyone knows, you guys would be the first ones to say how incompetent our management is to let him go. but you are right. behind a keyboard this is the fancy thing to do.

    1. Pray tell, what signs have Musah given that he will fully explode? He’s been making the same silly mistakes over and over. It doesn’t really seem like he is evolving. He is sill young but one would want to see some progression to have hope for the future, and Musah doesn’t seem to demonstrate that.

Look at Puli: enormous football intelligence, often makes the right decisions.

This is not something that can be easily learned. When you are a Primavera player, when you are not experienced enough, yes, your football intelligence can improve. But Musah has been a first team player for a while already and he is not demonstrating any improvement in his football intelligence so I have to doubt that he will ever learn.

      1. He has given signs the last few games. He has made some good passes. He cut right then left then struck. He rounded the keeper this game. That is stuff he would not have likely done last year.

He’s 22. He’s talented with physical gifts. And he has shown improvement. I think in 2 years he’ll be a very good midfielder. Next year could be a breakout season.

    2. Brother, you cantbgetvmad that people rightfully point out he shown the past 6 months he has the decision making of a brain damaged donkey. The failed passes, the missing shots from 5 ft away, the pointless fouls and sending offs, don’t act like he’s been good. He’s been the worst midfielder on the pitch every game he’s started

    3. Lol Musah didn’t explode at his previous club and this his 2nd season with Milan and he still plays like a complete amateur. He doesn’t have any progression whatsoever.

And fun fact, RedTurd bought Musah not because he’s talented but because they want to sell his shirts towards american fans like you who cluelessly thinks he’s a pretty good player lmao.

So i really doubt he will “fully explodes” at his next club.

    4. “to all the Musah haters: if we sell him and he starts taking smarter decisions and then fully explodes. ”

Another one who hasn’t watch Musah play or doesn’t understand football.

  13. Someone said Musah is the dumbest midfield in the team. Actually I think he is the dumbest player in the team, period, all positions considered. Or actually, the dumbest Serie A player.

Even Emerson Royal seems to be less dumb than Musah.

  14. Always great to see a win but in the grand scheme of things, it means little. There is still no clear style ,system of play, or stable starting eleven. It also seems that, outside of Pulisic, Reijnders, Maignan and the center backs, no player is assured of a place next season. The January signings have not been bad, but definitely underwhelming. It’s going to be another interesting summer.

  15. Milan’s problem was how we press the opponent especially from the first half of our games. We gave too much space to our opponents, we don’t close them down as soon as possible. That is where our problems started from. Milan coach need to work on this very well.

    1. Agreed! Frankly, our high press has been shite all season. All it takes is one or two passes and they find huge spaces. Often, it seems like people don’t know the trigger or who to cover, etc.

  16. Mike should not be beaten from there imo. Also what was with him getting crap at the end? He is a goal keeper ffs

Should prob sell him before he is injured for 6 months

    1. Tammy had problems with his shoes. Mike pretend a cramp because he’s the only player the ref has to wait for. Tammy is ready. Cramp is gone. is it really so hard to understand? he is doing it for the team, and its by far not the first time he did it.

      1. 100% agree.
There is no issue. He is just milking the rules so another team mate can get the time they need.
        He regularly does this.
It’s just clever tactics from a GK.
Frustrating for opposing fans. Should not be seen as an issue by Milanista.

      1. No. Yes. Yes.

20 yards out shot, placed in the corner. Not a thunderbolt.
Plenty of time to move your feet and push it around the post.
A top keeper saves that routinely

  17. Musah has played almost every position possible. From RW to DM, to RB. He is young and will get better. Cut the kid some slack.

    1. Bro he’s had 2 years and he still sucks. There is no improvement. Better to at least loan him out to a smaller club if we won’t sell him and hope he can develop. Milan is not the place for that and he has shown NOTHING to warrant cutting him MORE slack or giving him MORE chances than he’s already has. Enough is enough with this trash.

  18. I’m an American, but like many of you, I don’t like Musah’s play. For a defensive midfielder, he spends way too much time in the attacking third, thus requiring Reijnders, the real attacking threat, to stay back and cover for him. On defense, he uses his hands way too much, and once he sees a yellow card, he’s at a high risk to get a second (red). Too, I think that Abraham should start, as he does more than Jiminez.

  19. Why do people around here defend our two worst players – Royal and Musah? It’s like they’ve hired secret PR agents to clear their image after horrible displays. You’re outlining his tactical “multitudes” as if that’s the most important skill required. You do realize that there are players in Lega Pro who will gladly put the same effort at 5 different positions, right? It amounts to nothing when the final product is constantly missing. Forget the miss, he is always a headless chicken whenever he approaches the final third, dribbling when a pass is required, passing badly, shooting badly. He hasn’t scored a single goal in 2 years, do you think it’s a coincidence? What exactly does he bring to the team? One can argue that he has actually gotten worse with all the yellow cards lately, at least that wasn’t a thing with him last season.

Puli and TJ saves us yet again. Let’s take the win and hope for something more dignified in the remaining games.

    1. People who wanna defend the gerry transfers just looking for an excuse. The only thing they have to fall back on is that not every transfer was god awful. But when Tiji, puli, and pav are the only signings who were a genuine improvement over the last 2 1/2 years, you can’t get mad when people point out the truth. It’s like that one Fonseca lover on this site who spent all summer defending the Emerson signing and saying he’d be great, and the past 6 months making excuses for how useless he was. These clowns just can’t admit they were wrong about Cardinals nonexistent plan…

  20. The ONLY reason Musah plays is because he is an American. He is an atrocious player and has zero sense for the game of football. Ya he runs around and has a nice motor but it’s more like a chicken running around with his head cut off. How many chances is this trash going to get?? 21M on this kid was a JOKE. He couldn’t even start for the Futuro lol. Sell this guys ASAP it’s embarrassing. While our other American player (Pulisic) is arguably our best player and most consistent all season – Musah continues to get chance after chance and pass after pass because he’s an American. Horrible. Sit this kid on the bench and play a double pivot of Fofana and Bondo. PERIOD. Musah should ONLY play when we have a lead and need someone to run around and chase balls. Just a poor player tactically and mentally. Pls GTFU and take Gerry with you, oh ya and that TRASH Emerson Royal too.

    1. This is just conspiracy nonsense.
He gets a lot of games because the coaches like him.
      Why do the like him?
      Because he’s:
      – highly versatile. Can play RB, RM/DM, RWB, RW.
      – highly athletic. Has stamina and speed.
      – he can run with the ball.

Coaches particularly like him because when they want to change plans during they match, they can keep moving him to different lines to plug gaps. Red card to someone else. He can change roles to cover a player that has to be sacrificed.

The problem at the moment is his decisions when he has the ball in attack. He keeps wasting good chances.

I assume the coaches love his potential and flexibility. So keep picking him to start matches.

      1. The coaches use him because we have a poorly constructed squad and our midfield in particular is so shallow that when a decision has to be made, sometimes they have no other choice. At some point during the season we had only him, Fofana and Reijnders as available midfielders.
He is NOT versatile. Versatile means being good in many positions, he is bad in every position he has been used in so far.
He can player RB ? How many good performances he had as a RB ? We all remember the draw against Lecce last season where he attempted to dribble while being the last man.
He can play as a RW ? In order to play as a RW one has to be able to cross and/shoot, he can’t do neither. He played over 2000 minutes this season and a total of more than 4000 overall and has only 4 assists to show for.
Being athletic, strong, fast and carrying the ball are his only qualities. But guess what, you can get the same output from any random track field athlete or NFL player.
2 out of the 3 coaches who used him were fired, and the third won’t probably continue with us. The results with him under 3 different coaches are being 20pts from the leader, being 8th and being 9th and the best one of them didn’t use him that much. But the reason he is being used so often this season is that we have no passing game, no ability to build, to crack defense whatsoever, so sometimes the only way to bring the ball forward is to have this kid running with it and hope he can somehow pass it to someone else.
We are a midtable team, and this is exactly Musah’s level, a midtable player. He would never have started or even been benched in the 20/21, 21/22 or even the 22/23 squad.
Against Lazio he was subbed out in the 37th minute despite having no card or no injury, that alone tells you how bad he is.

      2. It is because there are no midfielders to pick from. Even Loftus Cheek was not available prior to today. Bondo was also unavailable until last game. Once there are other players and they are fully fit he won’t be playing anymore. Maybe as RW against a top team like Napoli, just to have an extra man when defending.

The problem is not his decisions when he has the ball in attack but 80% of his decisions are the problem. Bondo got a yellow card literally because of Musah stupid mistake. He makes them every game, in defense and attack. He seems to be unable to learn, he is the same as he was 2 years ago.

    1. No you walk into traffic. Musah didn’t do all that well in this particular game but in general he’s been playing better than all the midfielders in the last 5 games or so including Tiji.

      1. Pulisic and reijnders prove time and time again that they are milan best players this season.
So many clutch moments from them.
Without them milan would be lower on the table.
But a certain person here who can’t move on from the scudetto season will still say that krunic and messias are better.

  21. We have wrong players for the system and formation played. That’s it. No one is d*mb. Musah and RLC are not pivot players, they’re runners and ball carriers.
They will dribble run the lenght of the pitch but without any impact or delivery. We need players that will slice through opposition’s defense with their vision and passes. These guys we currently have, they’re good for running only.

  22. Pulisic and reijnders prove time and time again that they are milan best players this season.
So many clutch moments from them.
Without them milan would be lower on the table.
But a certain person here who can’t move on from the scudetto season will still say that krunic and messias are better

  23. Yet another Jekyll and Hyde performance.
At the point where Como got their second goal (ruled out by a 1 cm offside), Conceicao was definitely out the door.
There would be no way he survives an international break with 4 losses in 5 games.

As usual the subs lifted the performance.
The team was mostly carried by Pulisic, Reijnders and Abraham.

I’m so glad Musah is suspended for the next game.
Am looking forward to seeing Bondo and Fofana start.

    Abraham must start over Gimenez.

  24. Freaking Groundhog Day. Every game is the same thing. Play terribly, fall behind, make subs and hope for a miracle comeback. This Conceicao is a tactical genius. At least he figured out to bench Theo. That seemed to turn the game around.

Someone explain why Giminez keeps starting every week. He is quite useless. He’s totally reliant on other to create for him. He’s slow, and has a poor first touch. He’s like Lukaku without the strength and speed. Tammy is so much a better option. Tammy creates more in 20 minutes than Giminez does all game, but I’m sure Giminez will be starting the next match as well.

I love Pulisic, but if his goals are saving Conceicao’s job he is actually hurting the team. The quicker we get rid of this clown the better.

    1. The coach really doesn’t matter at this point we’d be getting the same results if pep was on the bench. We need two key signings in the midfield over the summer and if we get the right players all our offensive players including Santi will improve.

  25. Theo was lively the first 10-15 minutes but he looked really substandard after. He kept giving the ball away cheaply and was shaky in defense.

    1. Theo is finished, no zeal, no speed, no desire, poor decision making and he is now very indecisive. Milan needs a better LB than Theo now

  26. Musah is like an uncontrolled bull out of a gate …. no one will know which way he will go. Don’t understand why he starts every game and he never shows any improvement. One aspect of Milans game is the wasted time that the ball keeps recycling between the back four and goalkeeper. If this is by design then we should understand that our players are slow and cannot carry themselves for the entire 90+minutes. These are the issues that AC have adopted since Pioli era and has been continued ever since. It time to update this boring style of play. Forza Milan

    1. God bless you bro…indeed you have eyes because I thought I was the only one who noticed that Musah needs to be benched for a while and the players needs to step up their games because they are all very sluggish at times and they need to know that it’s better to decide a match on time than to wait till dieing minutes of the game

    2. The playing style isn’t wrong but without proper players it will do more harm.

Why Pioli got success is because he got proper mid like Tonali, Kessie, Bennacer, and Krunic that can smoothly transitioned between attack and defense.

Now, outside Reijnders, our mid is just horrific.

  27. It’s really spectacular that both Reijnders and Pulisic have the G/A contributions they have had this season in an absolutely horrid Milan. I mean honestly, blows your mind.

No one else this season has provided any guarantees outside of these two. No single player has been consistent throughout the entire season, but these two have basically carried this team. In fact, there was a stat I read that without Reijnders’ G/A’s Milan would be fighting actual relegation right now…

Now imagine what these two players could do on an actual functional team that plays for each other. A team properly built with a good coach, a competent sporting director and management that recognizes the quality it has in these two players and BUILDS around them.

    1. The problem is the management has been kinda ‘forced’ to built the team around theo and leao, which kinda backfired this season. Just like you said the two best players for Milan have been pulisic and reijnders.
It will be interesting whether they still think they need to built a squad that can maximize Leao’s potential or just try to built a more balanced and fungsional team that can help the players thrives more as a team

      1. So someone built a team around Theo and Leao by putting Reijnders in MC on their side. You also made up something so it fits your stupid story.

        1. If anyone built a team around Theo and Leao they would get a top DM that would play on the left side of midfield, so he provides balance and covers for attacking LB. The team wouldn’t have 2 AMCs and 0 DMs, and one of those AMCs coming in January when you could see that is not what the club is missing.

    2. We always blame Gimenez for not scoring or playing well but himself teammates in the attack or midfield never pass the ball to him for him to score all he does is to fight for the ball by himself when he is supposed to be getting assist From Leao and Pullisic. I seriously think Milan should go for Massimillano Allegri now because conceicao is not the coach to win us the serie A or UCL.

    3. Some say that at least half of Pulisic’s goals come thanks to Leao. Yesterday was a fine example of that. The goal was 90% Leao, 5% Reijnders and 5% luck.

I think the percentage is roughly the same for the second goal too.

      1. Dumb statement. Pulisic gets open with nice runs and cuts, which few others seem to do. Then makes a great angle shot, which all the commentators who are more knowledgeable than you, were marveling at.

        1. I see you marveling at sarcasm. Also, where did I state I was thinking like “those guys”? Oh well… Swing and a miss, I see.

  28. Where is the new Como fan, Maldini’s Heir after this match?
I’m sure he was getting excited when Como was briefly 2 goals up before their second was overturned.

  29. “Hernandez (6): Although we got to see another dive (he did get up immediately, though), I don’t agree with the decision to take him off. He was heavily involved in the chance that Musah should’ve scored and he also had some good defensive interventions. It just felt like a very strange sub.”
whoever is writing the rating/reviews is either a dumb*as or blind. Theo, Musah and Walker were trash and deserved to be subbed.

Whoever is saying gimenez (a 23 year old player that is new to the team) is no good and should be loaned should stfu. A player needs at least 6 months to a year to get used to the team and league.

  30. This couch destroyed the midfield completely and this is what Bennacer said about him.
Musah must have a good connection with Cardinale to be a starter at ACMilan.
Strikers are receiving zero chances and yet are required to score.
I am not sure what tactics Concesao is providing to ACM.

  31. I’m just baffled when the management kicked out smart and skillful mid like Bennacer and Adli but keep the useless mid like Musah. Heck, even Pobega and Krunic plays a lot better than Musah.

Right now, we have 6 mid: Reijnders, Fofana, Bondo, RLC, Sottil, and Musah and the only one who’s doing the best is Reijnders while the worst and useless is Musah.

Every time the manager start Musah, it’s like playing with 10 players from the very beginning.

So no wonder why our defense got massacred even by small team and that because our mid except Reijnders is NOT EXIST.

In the summer, i hope the new sporting director fired Conceicau and sell Musah, Fofana, RLC, and send back Bondo & Sottil to their club. Get back Bennacer, Adli, and Pobega and buy two very solid defense midfielder so Reijnders can do his attacking job smoothly.

Milan needs a revolution or next season we will keep watching this atrocious performances over and over.

  32. There are so many that play the game, but, don’t know how to score. John Mikel Obi had the same challenge during his time at Chelsea. The coach needs to work on Musah. He also needs to improve his marking. A lot of times he tackles his opponents like they do in American football/rugby. However, he still deserves a 5 for his overall gameplay. Leao was my main concern in the game. He stayed up too much, just strolling on the pitch, while the others were scampering around to defend. Can’t count how many times Pulisic came back to support the defense. Leao left Theo exposed too often. The way we set up our play with him leaves Gimenez with little or no chance to get goals. I prefer we do the passing stuff, and open up our opponents, rather than relying on a player who runs at one end of the pitch, with no end product, then strolls back gallantly. Conceicao needs to bring back Fofana into the team. Our midfield and defense are too exposed. We conceded 2 goals last night, and 2 against Lecce.

  33. So many comments about Musah already so I didn’t know where to reply… 🙂

First of all. Some people here keep praising Musah for his talent and potential. Sure. He’s got more talent than Messi and more potential than Yamal. Fact.

The enormous amount of potential makes other Milan players
    a) nervous and/or b) enjoy the show and not play as they count on Musah the GOAT to win the matches for us. So. You can’t really blame Musah for making the others play badly because of his awesomeness. Fact.

Musah knew it would have been an easy win had he scored from the two massive chances and he doesn’t want to do things the easy way. He wants Milan to suffer and sweat for every goal and point. Mission accomplished. Fact.

Musah is so good defensively, he has decided not to steal the ball according to rules ever. That would upset the opponents so instead he *always* places two hands gently on the their waist or shoulders and hugs them really tight until the ref blows the whistle. Sometimes the referees misunderstand his attention and books him for that. Fact.

I really don’t get the angst Musah gets. Give him 20 or 30 years and he can perhaps develop into a average player. But if we sell him now, no one will remember his name in 18 months. Are you, AC Milan fans who have gotten used to players such as Baresi, Maldini, Kaka, Weah, Gullit, van Basten, Shevchenko etc, prepared for that? Doesn’t Musah already deserve a place amongst them? I mean, the potential alone should win him the Ballon d’Or this year. And I see 3-4 consecutive ones coming his way once he fulfills his destiny as the GOAT. Fact.

    1. You can clearly see how anxious the other Milan players are when Musah is on the pitch. They simply are starstruck and cannot perform. Sub him and they have to start playing. They want to win the matches for him – not for themselves or the fans. Just like yesterday. Fact.

  34. For next season they need to sell everyone in midfield but Bondo and Fofana. So Terraciano, fail, he is useless. Musah, no comment. Loftus Cheek as well. Allegedly they could get around 40M for those 3. One Ricci is worth than 700 Musahs.

Reijnders is an AMC, he should play there but there should be a backup (maybe Liberali, not Joao Felix) for him. If they can get a top defender it would also be great. But to replace a talent for talent or get some average player, rather keep the players we have.

  35. Anyone defending Musah needs their brain checked – guy is a headless chicken and brings nothing to the team. He can’t dribble, can’t pass, can’t finish and what’s even worse, he loses the ball and puts others in difficulty – Bondo got a yellow as a direct result of Musah’s dumb play. He should not play again for Milan, he is not good. I guess the blame goes to Segio for playing him in each game – luckily he won’t play next week due to suspension.

    1. You forgot about the fact that he cannot steal the ball without committing a silly and obvious foul as he uses both hands to grab the opponents waist or shoulders to pull him down. Every. Single. Time.
