MN: Plenty of positives emerge from Milan’s win over Marseille as Pioli awaits reinforcements

By Oliver Fisher -

While it is only preseason and there is a limit to the concrete judgements that can be made, AC Milan were impressive in their 2-0 win over Marseille yesterday.

As MilanNews recalls, the Rossoneri won in convincing fashion at the Stade Vélodrome thanks to goals from Junior Messias and Olivier Giroud. The victory over Igor Tudor’s team follows the one against Wolfsberger in Austria, demonstrating that the team are in a good condition.

While waiting for Charles De Ketelaere for Milan and other potential new signings before the first league game of the season on Saturday 13 August against Udinese, Stefano Pioli can be extremely satisfied with how the team are working because the intensity was clear for all to see.

Messias and Giroud’s goals provide encouragement that there will not be an over-reliance on Rafael Leao, while in defence the pairing of Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori did well, and the return of Simon Kjaer was another positive. Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali also did well while waiting for a reinforcement for the midfield, meaning Mike Maignan had a quiet evening.

There are 12 days before the match against Udinese, and while Pioli is anticipating some activity on the market he can feel very good about where the current squad are at before they officially start hunting for a second star.

    1. How many times did you see Sanches last season? Stop getting excited, he’s garbage. Leicester want more than £50 million for Forfana – and we don’t need another defender.

    2. I love it when a jobless keyboard warrior called a professional football player as “trash” when they can’t even play football.
