PM: Arnault interested in gaining influence in Italy but Milan purchase is not on his agenda

By Oliver Fisher -

The chances of Bernard Arnault and the Louis Vuitton group buying AC Milan are getting slimmer and slimmer, a report claims.

The interest of French business and fashion tycoon Arnault in buying the Rossoneri has been reported several times over the past couple of years, along with rumours that current owners Elliott Management Corporation are willing to sell for the right price.

According to PianetaMilan, the continuous denials of the spokespersons of the LVMH group are one sign that the purchase is unlikely, but Arnault does have interests in Italy. They do not concern football though but rather through a partnership with Tod’s  – a group owned by the Della Valle family.

In Arnault’s sights therefore could be the Brunello Cucinelli brand or even the likes of Valentino and Burberry. He could aim big and look to acquire Prada or Armani to really register an instant influence in Italy, but the latest acquisition he made was to buy Tiffany for €15.8bn. In short, in the universe of Arnault there is very little space for the world of football.
