PM: Calhanoglu saga continues – a common will is reached plus an update on offer and demand

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management are still at work to try and make progress on the renewal of Hakan Calhanoglu, according to a report.

As was announced by Paolo Maldini before the international break, the Rossoneri have used the last week or so to talk about contract renewals with the agents of Calhanoglu and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

According to PianetaMilan, Milan are not willing to raise their offer of €3.5m net per year including bonuses, while the Turkish playmaker will not move for his stance of wanting at least €5m.  There will now be a pause for reflection and the parts will refresh in a couple of weeks.

If an agreement is not reached, Calhanoglu will not leave in the January window. The common decision is to continue together until the end of the season, regardless of the contract, as the player is very important on a tactical level and now Stefano Pioli’s team has found a balance that the management does not want to risk jeopardising.

The priority at the moment is the renewal of Gianluigi Donnarumma, whom Maldini wants to sign by Christmas, but with Calhanoglu there is the hope of getting the signature also in the second half of the season.

For Calhanoglu, Milan are always the priority but under the right conditions, and he has no problem evaluating offers that arrive. There will be no sale in January, unless a ridiculous amount like €30m is tabled.
