Pobega’s agent stresses he is ‘working hard to regain his place’ in Milan team

By Euan Burns -

The agent of AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega has talked about the hard work that his client is putting in to try and get more game time after falling out of favour.

Speaking at the Palermo Football Conference (via Milan News), Patrick Bastianelli discussed Pobega’s place in the Milan team which used to be fairly regular earlier in the season.

“There is a distinction to be made: until January Tommaso played and also with continuity, for being in his first year with Milan. He made 21 appearances and also scored in the Champions League, so he was doing very well,” Bastianelli said.

The Italian has then since seen very little game time from Pioli with Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer and RAde Krunic hoovering up all of the minutes in the midfield.

Bastianelli was quick to point out though that Pobega is not sulking and waiting for Pioli to change his mind, he is working very hard to prove that he should be playing.

“In the last month he has played little and now he is working to regain his place. I’ll tell you an episode that happened a few years ago: Tommaso Pobega went to play at Ternana, then in Serie B at Pordenone, and he was ready for Serie A,” the agent began.

“In July I got a phone call from the manager Corvino and he told me he wanted to take Pobega to Lecce, where there was great ambition. I was forced to say no because I had several Serie A teams on him. In the same market I represented Jens Petter Hauge of Bodo/Glimt and Corvino called me back. Same story, in fact, Hauge even scored against Milan and ended up playing for the Rossoneri.”

He ended his speech on Pobega by stressing the quality of the player and his confidence that he will be ready to grasp the opportunity when it comes.

“Tommaso has all the qualities to play for Milan, he is an extraordinary boy and when he gets the opportunity, he will be ready,” he said.

  1. Sell bakayoko and sign bryan heynen. He’s like kessie good in defense and offense from his stats. And he’s cheap also

  2. Hopefully Pioli is gonna be sacked at the end of this season. It’s hard to understand that how Pobega and Adli don’t get enough time or start in the first 11.
