AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega has outlined his relationship with head coach Stefano Pioli and also revealed that a team-mate surprised him.
It has been a pretty consistent growth path for Pobega as he progressed through the ranks of the youth team and then spent time on loan at Ternana in Serie C, Pordenone in Serie B, Spezia in Serie A and Torino last season.
He returned to base during the most recent summer window to become part of the rotations and Pobega has made 15 appearances for Milan this season, though he still needs time to fully adapt to the system.
Pobega spoke to Milan’s official channels about a number of different topics starting with the head coach Pioli, and his comments were relayed by SempreMilan.it.
“We work really well with Pioli. Last year he advised me to go to Torino. I have a beautiful relationship with him. He advises me where to improve and he tells me that the improvement must be constant. He’s great at managing the group. We always understand when we have to go fast and when we have to recover, and then go even faster,” he said.
On his footballing idol: “I’ve never had an idol in terms of characteristics. As a child, however, I had a passion for Schweinsteiger. I was blonde like him and we were both midfielders. At Milan Ibra was the one that most intrigued me. I wanted to see what he did beyond the game”
On a player who has surprised him: “Maignan surprised me a lot, because I didn’t know him. We didn’t know him when he arrived and it was a huge surprise for me, both from a technical and human point of view.”
