Tommaso Pobega will once again report for the first day of preseason training and this time he is hoping that he will return to stay.
Pobega has spent time out on loan at Ternana, Pordenone, Spezia and Torino, being sent to progressively more challenging clubs and emerging from each with an encouraging amount of game time to aid his developments.
MilanNews report how Milan’s mission has been clear: to send Pobega out to improve and to grow gradually starting from Serie C up to Serie A. This year could be the right one for Pobega though as he may avoid packing his bags.
His performances at Toro have been really convincing given that Ivan Juric used him as both part of the double pivot and as a more attacking midfielder in the 3-4-2-1 he established, amassing four goals and three assists. Roberto Mancini even gave him minutes for Italy against Germany in the Nations League.
Now Milan must decide what to do. Franck Kessie will leave and Tiemoue Bakayoko could have his loan cut short, so alternatives are needed to Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer given Rade Krunic alone cannot be relied upon.
Preseason will allow Pobega to be able to gradually adapt to Milan’s system and potentially become part of the rotations. The friendlies will of course be key, starting on July 16 in Koln and going up to the July 31 game against Marseille. After that, we should have a better idea.
