Pobega earning the trust of Pioli and Mancini – he is taking steps forward on both stages

By Oliver Fisher -

When Tommaso Pobega returned to AC Milan after his most recent loan spell at Torino, nobody really knew what to expect from the midfielder, but his season so far has been a positive one.

As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it write, Pobega is taking advantage of the hard work that he put in during his loan spells with Ternana, Pordenone, Spezia and most recently in Torino, finally earning a spot in the rotations at Milan under Stefano Pioli and making waves with the national team too.

The boy from Trieste – who grew up in the Rossoneri’s youth teams – is giving Milan the physicality and resourcefulness that are part of his characteristics. His celebration with Davide Calabria after his goal against Dinamo Zagreb show his very strong bond with fellow Milan products, who feel the pride more than anyone of representing the club.

It has been a positive start to the season that took Pobega to the national team, where he was one of the first to embrace Giacomo Raspadori after the winning goal against England on Friday night.

Back in June, Pobega played 10 minutes as he replaced his now team-mate Tonali in the final part of the Italy 1-1 Germany in the Nations League game in Bologna, but this time he was on the pitch for half an hour, after taking the place of Nicolò Barella.

At this point it is up to Pobega to continue improving and growing also with Milan and in Italy, but he keeps taking steps forward to repay the faith of his head coaches.
