MN: Probable Milan XI to face Hellas Verona – Bennacer returns to the line-up

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan must go to play Hellas Verona on Sunday night knowing that a win will put them four points away from a first Scudetto since 2010-11.

MilanNews reports how there are still a couple of days of training before the match, but we can already look at a probable starting line-up and the main news is Ismael Bennacer’s return to the field from the first minute.

After he came off the bench against Fiorentina, the Algerian will return from the first minute alongside Sandro Tonali in the double pivot and Franck Kessie instead will play as the attacking midfielder, while Brahim Diaz will be on the bench.

The other doubt is whether Junior Messias or Alexis Saelemaekers starts in the right, but what is certain is Rafael Leao will be on the left and Olivier Giroud as the centre-forward, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic ready to come off the bench.

Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu will be the centre-back pairing, while Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez will be the full-backs and Mike Maignan will be in goal.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Messias/Saelemaekers, Kessie, Leao; Giroud.

  1. OMG, PLEASE START REBIC AT RW… why do we still bother talking about Messias or Saele when they are TERRIBLE compared to Rebic!!!!

Andres Cordero, during his play by play of our Fiorentina match on CBS/Paramount+ this past weekend said “Rebic has provided more of a threat in his first 5 minutes than Messias did in 55 minutes” and Matteo Bonetti agreed saying “that’s fair”

It can’t be any more clear that he deserves to start and deserves the minutes and creates threats/chances for Milan. We need to start scoring goals in the FIRST half and not always leaving it so late. He presses, he can get crosses in, he has pace/speed to catch up with through balls or balls over the top. And it would be nice to have a threat on the right side for a change instead of only Leao/Theo on the left so opponents can not totally focus on stopping our left side only.

    1. or brahim as RW he used to play as both wingers in milan and quite good as well. Play rebic in CF role instead, he’s very good in one touch final pass

  2. Oh shit , junior/ lord saladmaker again. Why not trying brahim at RW and rebic as AMF for his long shoot. With that we Will be more ofensive to find early goal in first half
