The loss in Rotterdam has alarm bells ringing and AC Milan are making some changes to the team as a result with Sergio Conceicao not taking any prisoners.
Against Feyenoord, the dream did not translate to reality and Milan’s new attack failed to conjure anything fantastic. Instead, the team struggled to get the ball to them, and when they did get the ball, they were wasteful.
Now, Conceicao is having a mini ‘revolution’ and Sky reports, via Milan News, that the front line will change heavily.
In fact, the attacking line is the only area where change is expected, meaning Mike Maignan, Kyle Walker, Strahinja Pavlovic, Malick Thiaw and Theo Hernandez sit at the back with Yunus Musah and Youssouf Fofana ahead of them.
Then, here is where things get interesting. On the right, Christian Pulisic misses out (mainly through illness), so he will move to the bench where Samuel Chukwueze will come in. Centrally, Joao Felix could be replaced by Tijjani Reijnders, with Musah instead sitting behind, and then Riccardo Sottil is expected to replace Rafael Leao on the left. As was trialled in training this morning.
However, with a training session scheduled for the morning, this could change yet again.
Leading the line, Santiago Gimenez is expected to be given another chance from the start.
Probable Milan XI vs. Verona (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Walker, Thiaw, Pavlovic, Theo; Musah, Fofana; Chukwueze, Reijnders, Sottil; Gimenez
Love this.
No lazy players in the line up.
That and rest for the wicked for next week.
If you see Reijnders in the lineup it means that the changes are technical and tactical, got nothing to do with rest. No player needs more rest than Reijnders who has already played 2891 minutes with 3.5 months left into the season.
Fun fact, the “great” Ismael Bennacer, has never played that many minutes in a whole season for a Milan, while Reijnders, just like Kessie. Hakan, Tonali easily plays in the the 3000 and 4000 minutes. But according to Boban and delusional Bennacer fans Milan will miss Bennacer. The infirmary personal will miss him for sure.
Reijnders is already up to 3300′ in all competitions, I really hope he can get some rest. It’s obvious how fatigued he is out there, and how his performance has slipped. I hope Bondo is good and can share the workload.
Man, you forgot to spit on Theo in this post. You are welcome.
If this is the case then I’m giving up on Conceciao. Bench one of them(namely Leao) but all 3 and then run with Chuk, Musah, and Sottil? Dude just needs to stick with 433 and use pulisic and Félix on the wings with Santi up front and Reijnders, Musah, and Fofana behind. Then use Rafa as a sub. Can’t afford to drop more points.
U can say that when u are playing American basket ball
Your comment makes a lot of sense lol
Get ready for another diabolical first half. Another match where we fall behind 1-0 and then ask Pulisic and Leao to come on and save us in the second half.
a strategy that has worked in the past. Perhaps we don’t start Puli and Leao. Save them for 2nd half when opponents legs are tired and theirs are fresh. I’m running out of ideas.
You took the words right out of my mouth. 1-0 Verona at the half, with Leao, Felix and maybe also Pulisic coming on to save the result. At least we don’t have Tomori to worry about.
Is Pulisic sick? There have been references to illness recently.
Lol, if we hadn’t lost on Wednesday you’d say “rested” but because Mike made an error now they’re “benched”. No wonder the players suffer when their own media and fans set out to get them at every opportunity.
Dropping all 3 makes no sense. It’s time Conceição use Leao as a 2nd striker in a 442 push Felix out wide since we have Sotill who can cover the left wing. Use Musah and Fofana in midfield and get Reinjders are break.
Leao as 2nd striker will have enough energy to press with Gimenez which would take some load off of him and will give Theo more freedom on the left.
If Pulisic is not well then we need to put Chukwueze on the right instead of Musah or Jimenez.
Keen to see this line-up after such a poor performance against Feyenoord.
Yes.,NO LAZY PLAYER in the starting line up.,
Hopely Riccardo Sottil Will shining.,
Might as well bench Gimenez too and start Abraham so we can watch Chukwueze and friends fail to win yet another match SMH
I got the feeling Conceicau doesn’t learn the lesson and we will lost. I hope i’m wrong though…
Lineup #47 this season. Both Portuguese coaches always chopping and changing.
