Tuttosport: PSG and English clubs want Milan star but Maldini and Investcorp’s stance is clear

AC Milan have made it clear that they want to secure the long-term future of Rafael Leao amid interest from clubs in the Premier League, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) talks about the future of Leao who scored his 10th goal of the season in Serie A during the 1-0 victory over Fiorentina on Sunday and he continues to show his development after an inconsistent first couple of seasons following his arrival from Lille in 2019.

This is the reason why Milan have decided to block any offers for Leao in the summer transfer market, effectively telling the interested top European clubs that he is unavailable. Several teams like the Portuguese winger such as PSG and a few in the Premier League, and they have enquired with his agent Jorge Mendes.

However, again Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will not listen to offers and instead the target (as well as that of Investcorp) is to extend his contract from June 2024 to 2026 with his pay going from €1.5m net per season to €4.5m net.

However, the renewal has not arrived so far for two reasons: the first is the change of ownership at the Rossoneri and the second is linked to the lawsuit that Sporting CP has filed against him. On May 17 the Court of Milan will rule on the matter and things will be clearer, while Leao for his part is also happy to stay.

  1. Don’t be fooled anymore by player statement : happy to stay or love with AC Milan . It is just their trick to waste time until contract expire. Give leao deadline to extend example till june or August ( if still refuse then sell him to highest bid)

    1. Absolutely, don’t let same story as Kesshie, Dollaruma and Fuckan. He is under contract till 2024. So this is last year to decide stay or leave for money, not on a free.
Personally I see his growth and hope to continue and sign extension.

      1. Have you already chosen a name for Leao if he were to leave Milan? Some respect would be nice and that dollaruma thing is getting old anyway.

        1. Nope, you can help if you want. I think they deserve that kind of attitude toward them. The way they leave shows the lack of respect for the club. For example I’ll never say anything bad about Romagnoli, he is real player. The others were full of lies, not standing by his words.

          1. Or the way they left shows the lack of urgency in the previous Milan management? Once that contract ends, you are free to do whatever you want. And standing by your word, ah things can change so fast, especially in times like these. Or are you this perfect boy that never broke his word?! They moved on, so should you

          2. Yeah, let’s move on. Wise batsumi. Leao is a great player, he establishes himself in our club. He receives a lot of patience and trust. He was signed from this management. Hope he will extend his contact and the parties will reach agreement. If they don’t reach agreement and don’t sell him this is clear lack of right business management decisions.

    2. Yep. Talk is talk and means nothing. Happy to stay? Then sign the contract that TRIPLES your salary. That simple. No ifs and no buts. As simple as that. If not signature, then it’s off you go to the highest bidder.

  2. As I said before, all will be made clear after May 17th when the courts decision on whether he owes Sporting Lisbon 16M or not. Until then nothing matters. Patience is required. We can wait a few more weeks. If he wins he will stay. If he looses and we keep our offer at 4.5M and don’t offer to help pay his 16M judgement (which other clubs like PSG may do) he will likely leave – not because he wants to – but because he would essentially be playing for free for the next 4-5 years…
