It took AC Milan 87 minutes to finally break the deadlock against Genoa, but it was Christian Pulisic off the bench who managed to do so.
Milan had huffed and puffed all game but couldn’t find their way past their resilient hosts, but they managed to with three minutes on the clock. A low cross into the box from the right fell into the path of Pulisic, who turned and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.
There was a lengthy VAR review to see if the American had handled the ball, but replays showed he controlled it was his chest.

What a match giroud our new goalie henceforth
The match kinda bland for the most of it. But after 85th min all hell break loose. Very entertaining last 15 min 🤣🤣
How many match will Maignan miss?
Two if Milan won’t appeal and get “mercy”. They don’t. So he’ll miss Juve AND Napoli. Nice.
And Theo sits out Juve as well for taking the yellow FOR SHOUTING. F’ng idiot, one might say.
theo got a yellow for a strong fault. referee just let the game play and gave him later
Well… He was asking for it though. At least two reckless tackles in the opening 20 mins.
He gets so unnecessary cards, very annoying. He and Leao need to improve their attitude and stop being prima-donna’s
I think only one match ban? Considering there’s no malicious intent and Ekuban can continue the match just fine, the player didn’t have violent reaction after the card, and the referee need to watch var to give the red card.
Or max 3 matches if the referee/lega think it was dangerous tackle. But unlikely (for me)
A direct red means 2 matches and one match if the red was due to two yellows. And if it’s a violent straight red then it could be more like you said.
Maybe 1, because it is professional foul. And VAR clearly stated checking possible goal scoring foul or something.
That was 100% violent conduct, three games.
If my heart stops working one day, remember who is responsible for it.
I’ll be honest, if genoa scored like that Id be fuming. Worst referee ive seen. One has to be homest and say that was a handball but ill eat my shoe and celebrate our win regardless. Btw ref stopping our counter attack to give the genoa goalee a red card is absurd. We should have been left to play that clunter and we probably would have scored
“Btw ref stopping our counter attack to give the genoa goalee a red card is absurd. We should have been left to play that clunter and we probably would have scored”
A fact. He should have played the advantage of the attacking team and he didn’t. He was protecting Genoa. A clear refereeing error.
2 against 1 and open net. I wonder how it would have ended if the referee didn’t save them… FFS.
Leao on the ball with 60 yards of turf to eat up and only 1 player to get around, I know exactly who would have won that outcome. Ref should have continued tge play then come back for the keeper after
I wasn’t even cheering when he scored. I immediately saw the handball and figured they’d call it back.
I was sure they’d call it back too. It was looking too good to be true. But I’m not complaining.
From main stand camera it was like handball but from facing stand camera (the one with correct angle to examine it), it is clear that it is not handball.
Totally disagree. The reason he’s able get a shot with the way the ball comes off his foot at the first touch is if it hits his arm. His arm directs the ball back down. If it was just his chest, that ball goes up higher than his head.
You should see the video from the camera east of halfway line. The angle from there is perfect to judge the incident and it clear Pulisic from handball foul.
Yes, correct. When the ball contacts him, it’s like it becomes “pinned” to his body and then drops perfectly. If it had only hit the chest it would not have reacted the way it did. It hit both the chest and the arm near simultaneously.
The camera is on pitch level so it shows the vertical level of the ball perfectly. The ball did not go down straight away as you claimed. The touch to his chest was really good that the ball do not bounce much, it only went up (diagonal) slightly before turning horizontal and then went down (diagonal).
The camera east of halfway line shows that the ball is never pinned. It bounced instantly.
Of course everyone will argue ,but it hit his chest and bicep as one, played it off his chest goooooal. Theo needs to cool it, he has a mouthy reputation and the refs are thicker than thieves. Even the opposing players know now to irritate him. FORZA MILANO , top of the table !
The camera east of halfway line shows that it doesn’t hit bicep.
The VAR video from other angle shows that it never touch Pulisic’s arm, it was his chest.
Edit: it was armpit/chest, armpit is not handball according to regulation.
This is probably the most intense match for this season.
I’m glad we got three points because Inter draw against Bologna
You know, this is the second time of the day I have seen such drama in extra time. First in the game between United and Brentford now this.
This match when Giroud become goalie will be forever on TikTok and dubbed with syitty music.
Hard match. Genoa didn’t leave any room. And those fans. They didn’t leave any room either.
Mike never should’ve been in that situation, someone f’up up
Looked like a handball to me, but one angle cast enough doubt that I guess they let it stand. I think it was the wrong call but I’ll take it.
The red to Maignan was correct, and I say that as someone who has played keeper his whole life. You are taught to go up with a knee to protect yourself which he did, but he launched himself forward outside the box directly into the face of another player. It’s an easy call.
The decision not to play advantage on the the second yellow to the Genoa keeper was absolutely terrible.
The camera from the east stand confirm that it never touch the arm.
I disagree with the red, the forward wasn’t playing the ball, foul sure and definitely a scary collision but not reckless play. Mike has every right to play that ball just like the forward. I also thought it was a handball, I see how you could argue not clear and obvious though.
If you agree that is a foul, that is red as he is the last man.
Reckless play is just the start, clear violent conduct. He had NO right to go through the man like that.
Stop watching the games with Red and Black tinted glasses.
We’ll be without Theo and Mike vs. Juventus, but what a match. And strange to see we didn’t get the advantage when there’s a fault from Genoa’s goalkeeper.
I have never seen a game with no goalkeepers! Great entertainment!
Genoa still had a sub left and put in their #2 goalkkeeper
Massive three points that could prove to be vital, hard earned victory. Two star loading, Forza Milan.
I swear I aged a decade in the last 10mns. What an absolute cracker of a finish…. You can’t make this stuff up.
There’s just a grit about this team, something you can feel in the way they play and fight that makes me believe in the Scudetto. This was an ugly win but championship teams know how to win ugly when they have to.
Hard to pick out MOTM.
Previous to Mike’s red, on another one in the box he was kicked in the nads , do not blame him this time, he and Theo can use some rest….as to Adli, might as well have the stadium announcer tell the other team where he is going to pass it, no deception what so ever, either hard on the ground where it goes by the defender quickly then slows to teammate or lofted over their heads but not chest high, he must have given 10 or more away. Better to not pass forward and keep procession.
Mike has been out for so much this season already, they can just sell him next season and keep Leao. You can see that Milan can win with Sportiello as well.
