Pulisic concedes Milan showed ‘lack of attention’ but adds: “It’s never over”

Christian Pulisic was in a typically upbeat mood after the loss against Borussia Dortmund despite the fact AC Milan’s Champions League hopes are hanging by the thinnest of threads.

Milan have been left with a very small chance of qualifying for the Champions League round of 16 following their home defeat against Dortmund this evening. Olivier Giroud’s missed penalty early on ended up setting the tone, even if it was 1-1 at half-time.

In order for Milan to get into the round of 16, they have to beat Newcastle in the last game at St. James’ Park but well as that, they need Borussia Dortmund to beat PSG despite being already through.

Pulisic spoke to SportMediaset after the 3-1 defeat at San Siro against his former club Dortmund and he remained optimistic about the chances of getting through, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“We had the opportunities, at the end of the first half and at the beginning of the second. Only one of our moments with a lack of attention allowed him to score the 1-2 goal, it was tough,” he said.

“I think it’s never over, we still have the chance to qualify. Tonight we had a great opportunity, but we wasted it. We can control what we can control and try to win against Newcastle.

“The fans were fantastic, the atmosphere was beautiful, they pushed us. It’s sad not to have made it.”
