Pulisic ‘not happy’ after Milan-Slavia despite goal: “We definitely could have done better”

By Oliver Fisher -

Christian Pulisic provided an honest assessment of AC Milan’s 4-2 win against Slavia Praha tonight, claiming that the team are ‘not happy’ with how it unfolded.

There won’t be many times that Milan score four goals and win in front of a home crowd but leave the field feeling disappointed, and yet that reflects exactly how the first leg against Slavia went.

A red card for Diouf swung the momentum in favour of the Rossoneri, as did Olivier Giroud’s opener. Doudera levelled things, but Tijjani Reijnders and Ruben Loftus-Cheek struck in quick succession before the interval to give the Rossoneri a 3-1 lead at the break.

It looked like job done, yet Schranz halved the deficit to raise the frustration levels inside San Siro again, before Pulisic’s tap-in after Rafael Leao’s dribble gave breathing room again and a two-goal lead.

Pulisic spoke to Milan TV after the game and was tasked with trying to pick apart a dramatic game that swung both ways, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

Your feelings after the game?

“We’re not happy, we played with one more man, conceding two goals isn’t nice, we definitely could have done better.”

How do you think your performance went?

“I’m happy with my performance, obviously I’m happy with the goal, I’m going to press and try to score by taking advantage of one-on-one situations. I want to continue pushing and taking advantage of this season which is good for me.”

Work to be done ahead of next week?

“Now we will go to Prague to play our game. They will push hard but we will not be outdone.”
