QS: Atalanta officially put €6-7m forward up for sale – an August opportunity for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could reignite their interest in Josip Ilicic with Atalanta willing to sell and having already sourced his replacement, a report claims.

According to the latest from Quotidiano Sportivo (via MilanLive), Milan could very well go in for Ilicic knowing that he is officially up for sale. The Slovenia international is admired by the Rossoneri management and it appears that relations between Ilicic and Atalanta are at the point now where they are beyond repair.

Ilicic did not have a positive relationship with the coach Gian Piero Gasperini towards the end of last season and now it seems the 33-year-old’s future is away from Bergamo. Atalanta have already chosen his replacement in Jeremie Boga of Sassuolo, but to sign the forward Ilicic will be sold, so as to leave a free place in the squad.

This is where Milan could come in, as Ilicic’s technical qualities are unquestionable. An agreement with Atalanta must be found first, and they are asking for at least €6-7m despite the fact his contract expires next June. It is mentioned as a possible opportunity for August.
