The idea of a bridge renewal has once again been mentioned as talks continue with Rafael Leao and his entourage, according to a report.
Today’s edition of QS (via PianetaMilan) writes how at some point a fundamental step forward will need to be taken in negotiations after weeks and months of back and forth between Leao’s representatives and the Milan management.
There is a willingness from both sides to continue the relationship together and extend the deal which is currently set to expire in June 2024, but there is a major problem relating to the fine that is owed to Sporting CP.
One possible idea is a bridge deal which could give more time to sort obstacles such as the fine and then find a longer-term solution.
Milan and Leao are continuing to negotiate in search of an agreement that can satisfy all parties involved, which is an important and positive fact.
I’m not a fan of the bridge renewal. Assuming it’s even possible it may make it even harder to achieve a long term renewal if it’s a year on and he’s gotten better, regardless of the Sporting situation. But if it’s the only way to keep him for at least one more season then I guess it will have to do.
As long as sporting keep asking that 45m euro fee ( not 20m euro ) , we can sure leao wont renew until he find club that ready to pay that fine for him
