GdS: Race against time for Milan and Chelsea as midfielder makes late decision

By Oliver Fisher -

Tiemoue Bakayoko has decided late in the transfer window to terminate his loan deal with AC Milan, and now it is a race against time with Chelsea.

It is clear that Bakayoko is not a part of Milan’s plans given how little he was used last season and even during the preseason ahead of the current campaign, and yet heading into deadline day he still remains on the books.

According to Luca Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bakayoko has decided to terminate the loan deal with Milan, and in turn the Rossoneri would save a good amount given the salary he receives.

Now it is a race against time for all parties to get things done. The procedures are not easy considering that there is also Chelsea involved, and it is currently not a foregone conclusion that everything will be completed given there is less than two hours left in the mercato.

  1. The truth is Chelsea wants to play hard ball in a situation they couldn’t win. If they had cut their losses and freed Bakayoko, he could have gone to another club to try and find himself. But Chelsea, while it was clear they never wanted him were holding on to him.

I have a feeling Milan would have signed him if the fee was within reach. I still think he can be a dominant force like he was, but Milan couldn’t take the risk because of the amount Chelsea wanted.

I wish Bakayoko all the best. Who knows, he may still be training with Milan after the window shuts and if Chelsea eventually sets him free, he could play for Milan or go to Monza, or anywhere.

  2. Chelsea killed this guy, there is no need holding into a player you do not want, another talented player that got messed up in this kinda situation is delefeou.

When players settle in a club, let them be there, do not try to bring them back or hold on to them especially when you do not want them…..bakayoko is a good player, his problem is psychological, I remember his first loan when he benched kessie and kessie was abkut to be sold till Milan found out that Chelsea is trying to hold on to him by making bizzare transfer fee request……he is a good player and I know that once he finfs a home, he will play better
