AC Milan are bracing themselves for offers as Rafael Leao’s future remains uncertain, and one of them could arrive from Real Madrid as per a report.
El Nacional in Spain talk about how Leao has been one of the revelations of Milan since joining from Lille in 2019, but Real Madrid are ‘ready to take him away’ in the coming months. Leao’s contract ends in June 2024 and while Milan have already offered him a big contract, it may not be enough.
Even if the current offer on the table improves, Milan’s economic power is not enough to match the elite sides, and several European giants are ready to offer him a bigger salary to try and tempt Leao away from Italy.
The player knows it and doesn’t want to make any commitments just yet, while the Rossoneri are not closing the door to a potential sale next summer as they would rather get something out of his exit than see him leave for free in 2024.
Real Madrid have resumed discussions with Leao’s agent Jorge Mendes and have already conveyed to him that they are ready to pay €90m for his client, but they will not exceed this figure. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the running, but are playing more of a waiting game.

Playing the waiting game is the right strategy to implement if you are a club interested in Leao or any other Milan player for that matter.

So Maldini Massara gambeling on Leao to must stay during this season. In this article is not written if 90 million is for January or summer mercato. I think this should be for January. In summer mercato Leao price should be at least 30 40 million less. I think M and M doing wrong. This season Milan already with Leao lost scudetto and top position for Champions League is reached. It is better to Convince Leao to sell him now for top price and invest in summer then to gamble in summer when bigger club offers can wait for price to be dropped.
Sell him for 90M€ in January but insist he stays on loan until June.
My thoughts exactly. I would even take 75-80m if they object to the loan to make it happen. This would check all the boxes of maximizing value while not weakening the squad in the middle of the season. I am not at all confident in a renewal. Hopefully Maldini and Massara can milk their good relationship with RM to accomplish this high fee plus loan deal. Hell, I would even take 65-70m and a loan until June if they throw in Asensio (I figure 15-20m in value given his expiring contract) in January, with the provision the cash portion rises back to ~80m if a contract can’t be agreed with Asensio.
Accept 100 in this winter and demand them to let him stay with us until the end of season.

Im agree with @bb and @ranajaya…if that condition can happen, which im very doubt it… Who wants to spend 100m for player now, to use it next season…
