Tuttosport: Rebic the Juventus executioner gives Pioli a selection headache

By Oliver Fisher -

After the debacle on Monday night against Spezia, AC Milan are now channelling all their energy into Sunday’s huge game against rivals Juventus.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports, the Rossoneri are hoping that facing the Bianconeri will once again bring out the killer instinct in Ante Rebic. The Croatian has gained a reputation as the ‘Juventus executioner’ both at home and at the Allianz Stadium, which must surely tempt Stefano Pioli to give him a prominent role this weekend.

Rebic has scored in the last three league games against Juve including the 4-2 win at San Siro in the post-lockdown period of the 2019-20 season, the goal to make it 2-0 in Turin towards the end of last season and the equaliser at the same ground this season. In short, he is a big match player, because he shows himself when the opponent’s value and the stakes rise.

Pioli has a selection dilemma as a result of this: he can either field Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Olivier Giroud from the start who are two more natural centre-forwards and also have tonnes of big game experience, or start Rebic, but the feeling is he would prefer to have the former Frankfurt man coming off the bench.

  1. Leao left wing, Giroud attack, messias CAM, Rebic Right wing.

Have messias and rebic switch and make runs to confuse juve defense.

Eventually bring in Salae on RW, Brahim CAM, Ibra striker.

  2. Start with Rebic as CF. Leao on left and Saelemakers on right. Just like it was at the beginning of the season.
Let Zlatan to join the party when De Ligt and Bonucci get tired.
