CM: Rebic reflecting on his future at Milan – why both parties might favour a sale

By Oliver Fisher -

Although Ante Rebic has made important contributions for AC Milan since his arrival in summer 2019, his future at the club is now reportedly uncertain.

He has had a disrupted season so far due to muscle problems and constant relapses that have affected the Croatian’s performances. He has played only 913 minutes and has scored 3 goals (against Juventus, Liverpool and Salernitana) with 2 assists to add to that.

Calciomercato.com report how head coach Stefano Pioli wants Rebic to become the extra weapon in this season finale given how well he has played in the second half of each of the last two seasons, but Rafael Leao’s explosion has relegated Rebic to the role of second choice.

Rebic loves Milan but he is also starting to reflect what will become of his future, even though he has a contract until 2025 with the Rossoneri. At the end of the season, a meeting is expected between his agent Fali Ramadani and Paolo Maldini to understand what the plans are, and a sale could generate interesting capital gain to be re-invested.

    1. Maybe he don’t want to be in RW and already said to Pioli. Better buy new RW next season rather than forced rebic to RW

  1. Played his best matches in striker position imo. At LW his laziness is a big problem, especially with an attacking full back like Theo behind you. 5minutes on the pitch and he feels to pretty to track back. For some people, scoring few goals vs Juve should grant him an ever lasting starting spot, but the fact is: he has been terrible last season and a half. I wonder if there is a team even with serious interest. A player of 28 who didn’t even figure out his ideal position yet. Sell him if we got the chance and bring in a more dedicated player

    1. Yeah but Leao also fails to track back often. I just don’t think Rebic has been fit enough to get a good run out this season.

    2. Agree with you..I am from Croatia and am following Rebić since he was in croatian league. He is a good guy but i never understood why Milan bought him(like many players too…),he has problems in his head and with 28 he never really grew up,he will score a screamer accidently and then miss 4,5 clear chances,he was always like that and wont change,i hope he knows that his clock is ticking at Milan and bring his best until the end of the season to make us look bad because he played great ;).

      1. Hehe I sincerely hope he makes us look ike fools 😀 like you say, with a better mentality who knows what he is capable of, but I also doubt he will ever manage to change that and as a fan I’m a bit tired of waiting for those rare explosions. On world cup his behavior really annoyed me and I’m not even Croatian, can’t imagine how that must have felt for you guys (a)

  2. Maybe the Noa Lang idea has been a Rebic replacement option all along, instead of getting him to play on the right or the center as has been suggested 🤔 I mean, it would certainly be a good competition for Leao’s performance drops, specially in second halves.

  3. Leao is far more lazy than Rebic, Leao loses the ball and mopes aroung dragging his rear end instead of trying to win it back……. thought for sure Pioli would try Rebic at the 10 rather than Kessie, he has played there before when he was with Eintracht. He can distribute the ball just as well as Diaz and does not get pushed off the ball quick turn and strong leg, good with both legs. Needs to get back in form with playing time, but will not get it by setting on the bench, Pioli needs to get his changes in at the sixty minute mark not with 5 minutes remaining…… needs to get the whole team involved, rested, playing and more importantly personally invested in winning the Scudetto. Give all deserving a chance to be a hero in the last 8 games, it is contageous, Viva Milano
