RB Salzburg boss Jaissle believes his side can ‘scare’ a ‘world-class’ Milan at San Siro

Red Bull Salzburg head coach Matthias Jaissle believes that his side have what it takes to ‘scare’ AC Milan and possibly get the win they need to progress in the Champions League.

The Austrian champions were in the driving seat to go through to the round of 16 after four matches in the group having racked up one win and three draws which had them second, however they lost at home to Chelsea and Milan won 4-0 away at Dinamo Zagreb in the fifth round of action.

That means Stefano Pioli’s side simply need to avoid a defeat against Salzburg at San Siro on Wednesday night to reach the knockout stages of the competition for the first time since 2013-14, but it will not be easy as the 1-1 draw in Austria showed.

Interviewed after the 1-0 league win against Hartberg, Salzburg’s head coach Jaissle spoke about the midweek match and his side’s chances of going through.

“I think you have all seen for large sections of the match [against Hartberg] Wednesday’s match was in our heads. Let’s go to Milan with our heads held high, we will give everything we have and we can: we will see if it will be enough or not,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“I trust our style of play and we can scare them, even if they are a world-class team. We need an absolutely perfect evening in Milan and maybe them not being at their best.”
