Tuttosport: No crazy expenses – RedBird’s first job will be to finalise three deals

By Oliver Fisher -

In the next few weeks RedBird Capital should complete the acquisition of AC Milan from Elliott Management, and they reportedly have some ideas about the market.

As reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews) this morning, RedBird will not make any huge investments in the summer transfer window, but will have to improve the competitiveness of the team with significant signings to bolster depth.

The current management of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are expected to be kept in place and they have been working on some negotiations for months now which are still expected to go through, as per the newspaper.

For example, the negotiations with Lille for Sven Botman and Renato Sanches are now at a very advanced stage and both of those will have to be finalised via the green light from the American fund, and then the new owners will also have to think about the renewal of Rafael Leao who wants a big pay rise.

  1. Thanks to Financial (un)Fair Play. At least some clubs play by the rules. Unlike PSG whose budget is -200M€ but still is allowed to pay Mbappe’s insane new salary.

  2. Leao will leave in a couple off seasons for Liverpool , and it will become a trend under the new regime wait and see

  3. RedBird or any american investors they suck at running football clubs because they don’t understand the basic of the game they gonna ruin our chances in getting back at the top of world where we belong , this is not some small club they running with few fans ,ac milan is one of the best club in the world with million of fans from every nationality , we don’t deserve those greedy owner who think small ,
if i was owner i will use milan brand to start clothing company that will generate billions of profit every year use those profit to buy the best players available and keep rising the club marketing values and keep generate more money , milan clothing brand will surpass nike in few years because just name of milan will make people from all around the world to buy cloth not just milan ,
we fans would be happy because the best players play in our club that mean winning titles every year
club owner would be happy because they make money they need ,
milan brand is goldmine when in the right hand

    1. @milan die hard fan

Liverpool owned by American investors and they won EPL and Champhions League. Now please stfu and let Maldini do his job. Thank you.

  4. I agree with all you guys, I don’t want American owners. Give it 12 months and we’ll be calling to get rid of them. The Arab investment would be so much better as they have passion and zest for the game. No significant investment? So no Zaniolo, no Nunez which looked likely under Investcorp

  5. See you guys are not understanding there is a difference between epl and seria a. Epl generate revenues and Liverpool inspite of covid generated 487 plus m £ yes its in pound sterling…so hence owners are bound to spend…what is happening with mo salah they are bulking at his wage demands. Now us milan are different we have lesser revenues no Stadium no substantial investment in squad…pioli did a commendable job to bring us this far but to maintain we need investments….with American owners it’s hard if club wants to be self sufficient they need their own revenues and with Italy bureaucracy its hard to get all ahead for stadiums….I told you those investments from middle east would have been icing on the cake…..till we upgrade our stadiums to generate revenues easier said than done….let’s see what this so called Mutual fund brings in near future

  6. Well the Americans are richer than all the so called Arabians you guys are ranting on. The so call Manchester city are own by the Arabians but they can’t win champions league while Liverpool are own by the Americans and you can see the wonders that is goin on

    1. You are going off topic to win champions league you need more than money but they have been consistent enough to dominate in epl in 5 years winnings 4 titles is no joke for a team who wasn’t even considered as top 5 teams before take takeover…we are simply having a mature debate….Well will see how this pan out and its one way to be Rich but other to spend money

  7. Not surprising to hear Redbird will keep same model as Elliot…it worked this season when expectations were low and young players matured and exceeded what we thought they could be (Kalulu, Tonali, Mike etc..) But I am skeptical this model can continue as what will happen when our young stars become superstars? – which is beginning to happen with Theo, Leao, Tomori, Mike, etc…a salary cap of 4.5M a season won’t get it done and we won’t be able to attract the best players and of course will lose ours (for example Gigio, Kessie, and who knows perhaps Leao). The point is you should reward your players that you develop into stars like we did in the past with Kaka Gattuso Seedorf Pirlo etc…and we really didn’t let them leave. We paid them market value. You cannot build a CL team capable of competing w the worlds best every year of you are going to sell your best young players after they fullfil their potential and become stars because you won’t go beyond a pretty low wage cap by todays standards (4.5M). That model is not sustainable to build a WINNER. However it is a model to become a feeder club to the big boys (like Atalanta). We will see what kind of club Redbird aspire us to be but early indication is not that positive and it will take more M&M and Pioli magic to coax another title push next season after every other team spends $$ and we take a more cautious approach. I hope I am wrong but I am just not excited about Redbid taking over as I was with Investcorp. Stadium issue is the most important and Investcorp would have build our OWN. Redbird doesn’t look that way and at best we have a shared model with Inter…again not as exciting nor as beneficial for the economic sustainability of our club. Time will tell I guess…

  8. Also – Sanches and Botman – if we do in fact sign them are great signings – however they are really only REPLACING players like Kessie and Romagnolli and are NOT ADDING more players to this thin roster. Same w Origi. Great signing for FREE – but essentially he is a REPLACEMENT for Ibra (whether Ibra plays another year or not his body will not hold – so again Origi is another REPLACEMENT player to the squad) So I am anxious to see what we do to ADD quality to our team – back up LB CAM, RW…. – I want to know who we will be ADDING to take that next step and ensure we are competing for titles each year like in the past. Let’s see what you got Redbird…

    1. You said it perfectly each and every word you said is right in the box for fears we all have after red bird take over…..we don’t have sufficient back up that’s what i meant investment it’s not only transfer market but salaries you pay. If you wana have a winning mentality then you have to pay up…..I am having seeing all dona, hakan and kessie things happening on leao

  9. First season of new owner ,they want impress fans and introduce their name so probably they Will bomb transfer market with 150m euro-200m euro transfer budget like Yong Hong Li did
