Tijjani Reijnders was the difference maker for AC Milan on Friday night as they beat Hellas Verona 1-0 to return to winning ways.
Despite a moment of brilliance from Milan’s midfield duo, the game will not be sticking in Rossoneri minds for too long. Paulo Fonseca’s side had a job to do and they did it, even if it was mind-numbing at times.
For most of the game, both teams struggled to find an opening resorting to long shots and very early crosses, which made the game generally quite poor. Nevertheless, the Diavolo got their moment due to their two stars this season.
Youssouf Fofana has been imperative since arriving in the summer and he has gotten the best out of Reijnders, and tonight that was quite literally the case with the Frenchman finding his Dutch teammate outside the Verona box before Reijnders fired past the goalkeeper.
Speaking to DAZN after the game, the Dutchman reviewed the performance and what the three points meant, and Milan News relayed his words.
How important was it to win today?
“Very important, in the last match we drew… Today we took the three points but it was a difficult match.”
What assist did Fofana give you?
“Fofana has already shown it several times this season, I know he has these passes. I just had to finish.”

sweet finish. Something he was criticised heavily for lacking last year.
He has come a long way.
Beautiful assist for Fofana.
Perhaps he enjoyed having a more defensive double pivot next to him today with Terracciano.
Boy should stop sounding frustrated that the pass is not right at his feet or something and giving up on the play when the ball is still in play and reachable. It’s a thing of him I’ve an issue with.
Brilliant finish. Took the ball in stride. First time hit. Side netting.
Fabulous vision from Fofana.
Wins the game for us.
Unfortunately the rest of the match was pretty poor.
Belahyane and suslov, the best Verona player last night. Very useful for Milan to backup bennacer or suslov forbl pulisic. Left footed fantasista. Very rare.. I think he have something special.
You are right, last season tjjn had alot of scoring chances that he had to utilize, but this season he is trying to score every single chance, that’s good for him and his club.
