Report: Aston Villa not interested in €28m Milan striker; veteran Rossoneri man is a target

By Oliver Fisher -

Aston Villa are not interested in a move for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek in January, a report claims, despite speculation suggesting otherwise.

La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira reported on Tuesday night that the Premier League side have placed a €28million bid to try and sign Piatek.

He even went as far as to state that Villa tabled a four-and-a-half year deal (until 2024) to the Poland international at €3m-a-year, therefore a total potential salary of €13.5m and a package of almost €42m.

However, according to John Percy of the Telegraph, Piatek is not a target for the Midlands club – but goalkeeper Pepe Reina is.

The Daily Mail were the first to report that the English side had opened talks with the Rossoneri over Reina as they seek cover for the injured Tom Heaton.

The 37-year-old has struggled for game time despite being Milan’s back-up since his arrival in May 2018, but the Mail reported that he is ‘keen’ on the idea of a return to England and believes he can still play at the top level – with interest from Villa now backed up by Percy.
