Report: Chelsea could ask for €40m-rated Milan midfielder to sanction defender’s exit

By Oliver Fisher -

Chelsea could ask for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie as part of an exchange involving defender Fikayo Tomori, according to a report.

Tomori arrived at Milan on loan with an option to buy towards the end of the January transfer window and the Rossoneri have an option to buy set at €28-30m, depending on which source you believe.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Milan consider the buy-out figure to be high, but the Blues could put forward a sensational swap deal as Thomas Tuchel is looking at other options and is happy to lose the player.

An exchange with Franck Kessie therefore could be suggested, but the former Atalanta and Cesena man will absolutely not leave for less than €40million. Even though his contract is set to expire in June 2022 it will soon be renewed, meaning Chelsea would have to make the valuations of the two players stack up for a deal to go through.
