Report: ‘Slight gap’ between Milan and Primavera star in renewal talks

By Isak Möller -

Chaka Traore is one of the key players for AC Milan’s Primavera side and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed. In fact, the Rossoneri management are working on a renewal for the youngster, a report claims.

Traore joined Milan in a €600k deal from Parma back in 2021 and he has since become a key player for the Primavera side. He’s getting closer to the first team and given that his contract will expire in 2024, work is underway for a renewal.

According to Nico Schira, Milan had their first meeting with Traore’s agent Beppe Riso on Tuesday. There was a ‘slight gap’ between the offer and the demand, but both parties are working on reaching an agreement that will satisfy everyone.

Traore, who mainly plays on the left wing, scored eight goals and assisted an additional six this past season. And that is despite the fact that he missed 12 games due to injury, which held him back.

In the event of a renewal, Milan will send him out on loan or potentially keep him in the Primavera, while using him with the first team occasionally.

    1. Maybe he’s not physically ready. Leao started to dominate when he bulked up, he looks like a tree trunk now. But yeah he deserves to practice a bit with the first team and maybe get dressed for gamedays!

      1. And yet he somehow already made his debut in Serie A for Parma in 2016. Hopefully they don’t ruin another primavera talent by never giving him a chance with the first team…

        1. Yeah, I just found out he played 16 minutes with Parma in Serie A while looking for more information about him. Not ready to be a back-up yet I think, but he should be given some minutes. He’s the type of young players that should have played in our last game against Verona.

          1. I always said he is a player who has potential to play for any club in Europe, but Pioli just doesn’t know how to utilize his potential.

    1. I think the same he is ready to be Leao deputy and slowly integrated in the team with 10-20 min at the end of the matches but Mr.Pioli won’t give him a chance.

      1. Pioli give CDK 1450 minute play even if he have no impact or contribution. I think he will give chaka chance if rebic get sold and he have no choice to play chaka

  1. That there appears to be real doubt that Chaka will be playing seniors next season, at the same time that we continue to be linked to expensive options in similar positions, is evidence to me that ‘Moneyball’ is more of a re-branding of the existing project than any real change in approach.

We’ve got a blisteringly quick, technical 18 year old who could be the understudy at RW to one of the best RWs in the world.

Isn’t that Moneyball, if you’re using applying sabermetrics to make money (as opposed to winning games)? Expose Chaka against the weaker teams, give him minutes to to try to make things happen and build his value for sale.
