Report: Leipzig line up €25m Milan target as replacement for Liverpool-bound Werner

By Oliver Fisher -

RB Leizpig see reported AC Milan target Jonathan David as the ideal replacement for another reported Milan target in Timo Werner.

It was reported last week by Tuttosport that David is one of three targets Milan are considering in the event they have to replace striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the upcoming window.

While the Swede seems to face an uncertain future with the Rossoneri as his deal expires on June 30, the club’s hierarchy are drawing up a number of plans related to the mercato so as not to be caught unprepared by any eventuality.

The paper claimed that David – who has 20 goals and 13 assists in 39 games for Gent this season – is currently worth €25million, a figure that Milan would be happy to invest for a player who can represent the centre-forward of the future.

That is according to Transfermarkt, David’s preference would be a move to the Bundesliga, where Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach have already scouted him.

There have even been ‘some tentative links to Bayern Munich’, the report adds, but RB Leipzig are considered favourites due to their project and the fact the Canada international could replace Timo Werner, who continues to be linked with a €60m move to Liverpool.
