Report: Man Utd prepared to sell €45m midfield flop – AC Milan strongly linked

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United are ready to sell midfielder Nemanja Matic in January amid strong links with a move to AC Milan, a report claims.

The Rossoneri are expected to be busy next month after what has been a dismal first half of the season, with the team currently down in the bottom half of the table.

It has recently been reported by a number of outlets that Milan could look to add more experience to a struggling young squad, with Matic among the possible targets to do just that (via Gazzetta dello Sport).

The same outlet reported on Saturday morning that the Serbian is the first name on their wish list. He is finding little game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but could help add some leadership that Milan are sorely lacking.

According to the Daily Star, Matic has been told by United that he is no longer required at Old Trafford. He arrived in a £40m (€45m) deal in the summer of 2017 when Jose Mourinho was in charge, but his time in Manchester has not been considered a success.

The report adds that at least two Premier League clubs are eyeing the 31-year-old, with executive vice chairman Ed Woodward ready to sell him to the highest bidder.
