Report: Milan face competition from Arsenal, Man Utd for €40m powerhouse

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan face competition from both Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign Merih Demiral, according to a report.

We recently reported that the Rossoneri have been forced to look into signing a centre-back during the January transfer window due to Leo Duarte’s injury.

An official club statement last week confirmed that that Duarte underwent an operation at the Alfredson Tendon Clinic in Umeå to treat a problem with his achilles tendon, with a recovery time of up to four months.

Vito Angele told us that Milan consider Merih Demiral as the primary target to reinforce the back line, with the Turkey international struggling for game time with the Bianconeri.

However, according to Sportsmole – who cite Calciomercato.com – both Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in the 21-year-old, who is open to leaving Juve in search of more playing opportunities.

The report goes on to mention that a £34m price tag has been slapped on the former Sassuolo man, roughly equivalent to €40m.
