Report: Milan hatch plan to spread wages as Chelsea slash asking price of Lampard outcast

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in talks with the return of Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko with his asking price having been drastically reduced, it is claimed.

The midfield seems to be the department in which the Rossoneri will undergo the most overhaul this summer, and Bakayoko is a name who has been repeatedly linked over the past few weeks, even as far back as January.

It was recently confirmed that Monaco will not exercise their right to buy the 25-year-old, and MilanNews are reporting that Milan dream of creating a Bennacer-Bakayoko pairing in midfield, as part of Rangnick’s new-look 4-4-2 system.

Now, journalist Nicolo Schira is reporting on Twitter that Milan are in talks over Bakayoko’s return and Chelsea are willing to sell for a fee of €20-25m. In addition, the Rossoneri management are working on a plan to spread his salary over a four year deal, to €4m-a-year.

Earlier in the month, il Corriere dello Sport (via TMW) claimed that Milan are hard at work to secure a return for Bakayoko and have begun talks, but that Chelsea are not backing down from the €42million transfer fee they agreed with Monaco.
