Report: Milan, Liverpool and Leeds all want €40m star – the Rossoneri’s plan includes counterparts

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are targeting a Serie A midfielder to bolster the squad ahead of next season, a report claims.

According to Il Milanista, the quality and quantity of players in the squad must be increased but there are some potential sales to take into account such as Samu Castillejo and Alessio Romagnoli, though it is difficult now to make assumptions regarding the Rossoneri captain.

Hakan Calhanoglu meanwhile could leave, as there has been no progress made in recent weeks regarding his renewal, so Milan have taken steps to protect themselves and that is why Rodrigo De Paul is the first name on the list of replacements for Maldini and Co.

The Argentine is apparently valued at €40m after a season with 9 goals and 9 assists in 34 league appearances. It is a very high figure for any team, given the economic crisis generated by Covid-19, plus there is competition from Liverpool and Leeds who are in fact leading the chare at the moment.

To lower the cost of the cash sum, the Milan management would like to insert counterparts such as Marco Brescianini, Tommaso Pobega or Jens Petter Hauge. In Italy though, Napoli, Juventus and Inter remain vigilant.
