Report: Milan moving towards Donnarumma renewal until 2023 – Raiola wants release clause

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan want to celebrate Gianluigi Donnarumma’s 200-appearance milestone by securing his renewal, it is claimed.

The dilemma that the Rossoneri face regarding the future of the 21-year-old has been well documented. His deal runs until 2021, meaning the club must either agree a renewal before next season or consider selling so as to avoid the risk of losing a prized asset on a free transfer next year.

There has been good news filtering regarding the situation over the last few weeks, with several reputable sources reporting that Milan are optimistic about a positive conclusion to the talks.

According to what is being reported by Nicolo Schira on Twitter, Milan wants to celebrate the milestone that will hopefully be reached by Donnarumma on Tuesday night – 200 appearances for the senior side – by securing his future too.

Donnarumma wishes to remain at the club and there has been a ‘positive’ conference call with Mino Raiola regarding a new contract until June 2023.

Raiola wishes to insert a release clause of €50m however which could yet cause friction, while it is suggested that the basic salary will be lower than the current €6million per year net, but with bonuses that mean it could be higher in total.
