AC Milan could make a last ditch attempt to sign Genoa star Christian Kouame, according to the latest reports.
The primary target for the Rossoneri leadership was believed to be Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa, however multiple outlets are reporting that the deal could be completely off.
A report from Anto Vitiello on MilanNews.it earlier on Friday confirmed that Milan are now looking for alternative targets as ‘the operation with Atletico has run aground‘.
According to il Secolo XIX (via Calciomercato), one of the alternatives being considered is Genoa’s Christian Kouame, a player that Milan apparently wanted in January.
They state that it would be a difficult operation to pull off late in the mercato as the Grifone would demand upwards of €20m, a figure Paolo Maldini and co. are unlikely to fork out.
However, the report claims that Maldini has a ‘clear intent’ to partner Krzysztof Piatek with Kouame once again, as the pair played together and had huge success in the first half of last season.
