Report: Milan take a back seat as Arsenal appear most likely destination for €60m Serbian

AC Milan look set to miss out on Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic as reports in Spain claim that Arsenal are closing in on a deal.

Doubts over the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic means that Milan have been forced to probe the ground regarding a number of potential replacements, with Jovic being one of them.

Calciomercato.com reported that good relations between the Rossoneri and Real Madrid – in addition to those with his agent Ramadani and the friendship between Jovic and Ante Rebic – could see Milan land the Serbia international.

Jovic only joined Los Blancos last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee of €60million but has struggled in his first season at the Bernabeu, both in terms of goals and playing time.

Spanish outlet Sport though claims that Mikel Arteta is very much intent on signing Jovic for Arsenal, and even mentions that their efforts have forced Milan – and fellow suitors Napoli – to take a backseat in their efforts to sign the 22-year-old.

Milan did want to partner Jovic up with his former Frankfurt team-mate Ante Rebic, but the Rossoneri have apparently been forced to accept that the player is ‘more likely’ to move to London, on a loan deal.
