Report: Milan to make a new attempt for Fiorentina star on Tuesday; player keen on move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to make a new attempt to sign Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina early next week, it is claimed.

Milan will enter the 2020-21 Serie A campaign the same way they ended the previous one: with Alessio Romagnoli and Mateo Musacchio out injured causing a strain on depth in the defensive department.

A number of targets continued to be linked, with the three main names at the moment seemingly Nikola Milenkovic, Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana and Kristoffer Ajer of Celtic.

According to journalist Alessandro Jacobone of Sportitalia and TMW, the Rossoneri management are expected to go back in for Milenkovic on Tuesday.

The player is attracted by the idea of joining Milan, who would like to make him available to head coach Stefano Pioli as soon as possible. Viola president Rocco Commisso has put up a wall for now, causing Milan to look at back ups.

In a reply to the tweet, Jacobone adds that Ajer and Fofana are indeed the alternatives, with the former currently ahead.
