Report: Milan winger set for January exit as LaLiga side circle

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could be ready to say goodbye to winger Samu Castillejo in the January transfer window, if reports from Spain are to be believed.

Under Marco Giampaolo, the Spaniard found space in the starting XI, appearing in the first three games of the Serie A season and amassing 166 minutes of league action.

This came after speculation over the summer that former club Villarreal were keen on bringing Castillejo back to the Estadio de la Cerámica.

It was Villarreal who sold the 24-year-old to Milan in an €18m deal in summer 2018 as part of the deal which saw Carlos Bacca move the other way.

According to Calciomercato.com – who cite Spanish outlet Fichajes.net – claim that after a just over a year with Milan, Castillejo’s farewell ‘cannot be ruled out’.

They state that former club Villarreal are still monitoring their former player closely, and at this point a return to Spain seems likely if he cannot find space in the Rossoneri team again.
