Premier League side Newcastle United had a scout present at San Siro for Monday’s 0-0 draw between AC Milan and Sampdoria, it is claimed.
The Rossoneri failed to score for a third straight game despite having over 10 shots on target and continued their woeful season of goalscoring in general as a resolute performance from Claudio Ranieri’s side earned a point.
According to @NUFC_HQ on Twitter, Newcastle sent a scout to the game to observe two Milan players; namely winger Hakan Calhanoglu and striker Krzysztof Piatek.
Both players were completely ineffectual during the game, with the latter being hauled off after 55 minutes in place of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Calciomercato.com recently claimed that Calhanoglu’s departure in January is a possibility despite the fact he has been a starter for the most part under Stefano Pioli, with an asking price of €20million set.
Meanwhile, MilanNews.it reported that the arrival of Ibrahimovic means that Milan will consider offers that will arrive for Piatek in January with a valuation starting from €35million, or a slightly higher figure. He is believed to have already rejected both Genoa and Crystal Palace.
Newcastle currently have a scout in Italy who watched AC Milan play Sampdoria today.
