Report: Paqueta’s fate appears to be sealed – Milan hoping that PSG reignite interest

By Oliver Fisher -

Lucas Paqueta is likely to leave AC Milan in January as he has slipped down the pecking order under Stefano Pioli, a report claims.

The Brazilian had a turbulent January during which he declared himself unavailable for a game against Brescia amid rumours in the media that he was struggling with life off the field and life in Italy.

Since then his situation has gotten no better. He has started just one of the Rossoneri’s last 13 games in Serie A, which of course has once again led to speculation suggesting he could leave in the summer.

According to Calciomercato.it, the future of Paqueta seems to be marked and the 22-year-old will depart the club in the summer. At Casa Milan it is hoped that the PSG will come back for the playmaker, but they would ask for €30m which Leonardo is unlikely to fork out for his compatriot despite being key in signing him for Milan from Flamengo.

The outlet claims that a swap deal may be required to avoid registering a loss. There were rumours of an exchange with Federico Bernardeschi in January, but it did not take off because of the Italian’s high salary. At the moment, the Bianconeri are now focusing on other targets.
