The arrival of Ralf Rangnick as AC Milan manager could give Alexis Saelemaekers a lifeline in his hopes of staying with the Rossoneri.
The Belgian arrived at Milan on loan with an option to buy. The cost of the loan was €3.5m, and the it has been widely reported that it will take another €3.5m for his move to be made permanent.
Calciomercato.com recently claimed that Saelemaekers is part of Ivan Gazidis’ plans, but the idea of the club would be to try and get a discount on the agreed €3.5m fee.
Now, Sudinfo journalist Guillaume Raedts has revealed to MilanNews24 that despite the fact the Anderlecht winger has played just 32 minutes in all competitions, Milan will exercise the purchase option included in the player’s loan contract.
Raedts states that Milan believe in the potential of the player and that the upcoming arrival of Ralf Rangnick on the Rossoneri bench could be a game-changer for Saelemaekers.
The German appreciates his profile and could give him a chance next season, having even tried to sign him January 2019 while he was still stationed at RB Leipzig.
