Report: Reason for Saelemaekers’ absence from Monza friendly revealed

By Euan Burns -

Belgian winger Alexis Saelemaekers is absent from AC Milan’s friendly against Monza due to a fever that he is struggling with, a report claims.

As has been reported by Pietro Balzano Prota on Twitter, there is an innocent explanation for Saelemaekers not making it onto the bench for the Trofeo Berlusconi match at the U-Power Stadium.

His lack of involvement immediately sparked interest given he is being linked with a move away from the club. He is one of many players that is expected to leave the club this summer.

Besiktas are the latest side to show some interest as they seek to add him to the squad, having already signed Ante Rebic from the Rossoneri.

Pioli has chosen to go with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic from the first whistle against Monza, one of Milan’s final few friendlies before the new Serie A season gets underway in just under two weeks’ time.
