Report: Senior figures at Man Utd want to hire Milan managerial target as director

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United are considering hiring Ralf Rangnick as a technical director, a report claims, amid speculation that Milan are also keen on the German.

German outlet Bild dropped a bombshell earlier in the month when they claimed that Rangnick is in advanced talks to become the new head coach and sporting director of Milan in what would be an unprecedented appointment in Italian football.

Rangnick did an interview in January and denied having held talks with Milan, but hinted that it is a club he would be interested in joining as he has admired them since the 1980s. He even opened up to the possibility of becoming a head coach again.

Then, a report from Calciomercato.com on Tuesday claimed that Rangnick – who has held concrete talks with Milan even having gotten down to the final details – is becoming impatient with the Rossoneri due to public denials and the good work Stefano Pioli is doing.

According to the latest from the Independent though, Manchester United are ‘strongly considering’ Antero Henrique and Rangnick for the role of technical director.

The paper claims that negotiations with Henrique have reached an advanced stage, however Rangnick – currently Red Bull’s Head of Sport – is ‘favoured by some senior figures at United’, while links with Milan are acknowledged.
