Reports: AC Milan send scouts to watch star Qatari forward

By Fred Ilondo -

Qatar forward Almoez Ali has reportedly been scouted by AC Milan at the Asian Cup for a possible summer transfer.

According to La Repubblica and Qatari daily Gulf News Milan scouts were spotted during the Asian Cup and they were presumably watching Ali.

The forward has scored a record-breaking nine goals, which helped his team lift the trophy.

Ali was born in Sudan but is has decided to play with the Qatar national team instead. He is currently playing for Al-Duhail, the club who recently signed Medhi Benatia from Juventus.

The striker already has experience of European football, having played in teams like Eupen, LASK Linz and Cultural Leonesa.

Ali also gathered praise from one of Europe’s top coaches in the person of Jose Mourinho.

“Almoez Ali is an excellent player who can play abroad. I think Almoez is agile. He moves fast,” the former Manchester United manager told beIN Sports.

“Almoez has all it takes to be playing in another League so that he becomes more competitive.

“He is young and he needs to be playing in a better League if he wants to become a top player.”

The ones Ali would need to impress are the scouts sent by the rossoneri. With Piatek and Cutrone already proving themselves, it is hard to imagine them looking for yet another striker. However, as the summer approaches, it would become clearer what the intentions of Il diavolo are.
