Reports: Boost for Milan, Man Utd and Leicester as Sporting open to sale of €45m defender

AC Milan face competition from the Premier League in the race to sign Sporting CP left-back Nuno Mendes, according to reports.

Calciomercato.com reported last month that Milan have their eye upon Mendes, who has already become a starter for the Lisbon-based club despite being just 18.

Goal.com added how Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid are also interested as well as Juventus, Arsenal and Milan, but Mendes recently signed a new five-year deal with a €45m release clause.

According to the latest from Calciomercato, Milan are continuing to follow Mendes ‘with interest’, however it appears that they face even more competition that previously reported.

That is because the Daily Mail are reporting how Leicester and Newcastle are also interested in the player, and it seems Sporting have opened to the idea of a sale.

The Lisbon-based side are reluctant to lose him but they have been feeling the financial effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, and may end up accepting offers below his €45m clause.
