Hakan Calhanoglu continues to play a crucial role for AC Milan on the pitch, but the issue of his renewal still needs to be resolved.
As Tuttosport reports (via MilanNews), Calhanoglu is one of the first names on the team sheet for Stefano Pioli, but the Turkey international is currently dividing his attention between matters on and off the pitch.
With his current contract set to expire in June 2021, the future of the former Leverkusen man is at a crossroads. His positive performances since lockdown certainly help his requests for a significant pay rise, but at the same time there are a number of clubs interested in signing Calhanoglu.
The player’s agent Gordon Stipic is expected in Milan in the coming weeks to discuss the issue, while a report on MilanLive claims that Calhanoglu is demanding his salary doubling from €2.5m net per season to €5m, but the club are confident of securing his signature.
