Reports: Correa to Milan saga is finally over – the player will remain

By Oliver Fisher -

Angel Correa will remain at Atletico Madrid until January at least as reports in Spain (via Calciomercato.com) confirm he will not join Milan.

Correa has been the name most strongly linked with a move to the Rossoneri over the last few weeks, and we revealed earlier in August that personal terms had been agreed with the Argentine.

The sticking point continued to be agreeing a fee with Atletico, and Calciomercato.com recently claimed that four alternative names were being considered – namely Memphis Depay, Christian Kouame and Mariano Diaz.

Despite this, La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira then revealed on Twitter that Milan were preparing one final push to sign Correa before the window shuts.

These rumours were then fuelled by the fact that the 24-year-old was not been called up for Atleti’s LaLiga game against Eibar on Sunday.

However, Ante Rebic is the man who looks almost certain to sign for Milan on deadline day instead, with the Eintracht Frankfurt forward currently undergoing a medical ahead of a two-year loan with option to buy.

Indeed, Calciomercato.com – who cite ‘reports in Spain’ – have confirmed that Correa will be staying with the Rojiblancos, something which has delighted Diego Simeone who always wanted to keep the player.
